im surprised there isn't a thread already about the Superbowl.
anyway...i think the matchup is a bit lacking this year in terms of hype and such.

so.. who are you cheering for and why?
i am cheering for the Steelers because...well they beat Indy
you know what they say...if you're gonna lose, might as well lose to the future champions and not some chump team

i don't hate Seattle but i don't like that Shaun Alexander guy...

i fully agree, what is terrible is that both of the teams had Cinderella seasons this year:
Seahawks: never won in the post season, has a MVP runner who says that he doesnt get the respect that he diserves.
Steelers: 2nd year QB that doesnt have much experience, defeated the 1, 2, and 3 seeds in the playoffs angry, and is the only 6th seed to reach the Super Bowl.

so, all in all, i dont really care who wins it this year

I always wanted to experience the Superbowl, but since Im a Swede, the closest thing I can relate to would be the World Championships in Soccer (Go sweden!).

I live in Pittsburgh.

The city is going absolutely crazy. I'm not a huge football (american) fan, but it is cool to see such unity. Yesterday my friends got a letter telling them to remove their couch on the porch because city officals are afraid it will be a likely target for fans after the game to burn in a victory bonfire (this very thing did happen 2 weeks before when they won their previous game). Also, many streets are going to be shut down by cops due to fans pouring out of bars after the game in celebration.

if that were true, the world woulda 'sploded back in '79 was it when Pittsburgh won...actually it was a couple of years in a row back then according to Sports channels.
