3D Realms posted a job search thingy at Gamasutra today together with a screen from, what people believe, the game Duke Nukem Forever.

George Broussard later posted at Shacknews and confirmed that is was an ingame shot.

I guess I'll reconfirm what I said last night. That's an in game, real-time shot of Duke standing in a random hallway. It was really done as a small teaser for a job ad on Gamasutra.com. Nothing more.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed it, and we'll show more later as we start to wake from our slumber and decide how best to show the game off.

It seems to me they should have released back in 2001 & started working on the next game.

Exactly. DNF has taken over from Daikatana as the gaming joke-with-no-punchline and unless it does the gaming equivalent of turning water to wine, coal to diamond and dribble into sex all at the same time in every single frame, it won't have been worth the wait.
And considering the old DN games really weren't all that, colour me sceptical.

Duke wouldn't make it this day and age, the original Duke Nukem 3D character was a parody of Roddy Piper in John Carpenter's They Live, complete with same shades and same jokes. He just wouldn't fit in with today's anti-heroes. He's a washed up has-been and must be at least 60 by now, and living on an old boat somewhere off Miami, drinking himself to death and dreaming of his glory days.
