All this "we are planet cancer" bullshit makes me wish that the Gaia advocates would just start the process by getting rid of themselves. The planet is exactly what it is. A ball of iron and rock covered in an atmosphere and lots of stuff sticking to the surface. Even if you are worried about the little fuzzy bits on the surface of the planet then you are being stupid. Life has survived radical changes, much more than anything that it can self inflict. Atmospheric changes, temperature changes, dinosaurs, meteor strikes, etc.

It is quite clearly a stabilizing situation, anything which reduces the habitability of the planet would reduce human activity. It is self correcting and will come to equilibrium. Worry about your own sorry lives before you take on responsibility for for the entire planet.

"world" is pretty much used as a metaphor for all the pointless drama people dredge up and get themselves caught up in.

I didn't mean that "we're not good enough for the planet and are ruining the living shit out of it", I meant "we're good people but are really stupid for making all sorts of social drama and then blasting it way out of proportion".
