thee. realism mod, how far can we go? who wants to?

i agree. don't make your mod for "THE PEOPLE" your a mod, we can download it for free, make your mod for how YOU want your mod to be (realistic without adding anything that is soley negative) then listen to the people WHO LIKE your mod, not the ones that want to play DOD or CS or TFC.

just my opinion, cuase i desperatly want more realism in games.

EDIT: and i don't know why i never spoke up sooner, cuase all this time i was waiting for DOD to add more realistic features or find another realism game.

You say people won't like that, but i can show you 40 other mods people made that NO ONE plays and AREN'T realistic. yet NO ONE has attempted an EXTREMELY realistic mod...
grrrrr.

What about medics that can administer injections, like painkillers or whatever, but they actually have to select the right substance and inject it into the right hitbox of the organ or whatever. If they inject the leg with an anaesthetic for example, the running stats of the person are reduced, something like that.

That would be cool and make the medic's job skillfull

Per-pixel hit detection would obviously be better for realism, like bullet-proof vests that only protect a certain amount of pixels, but i guess we'll be waiting till Source 2.0 and HL3 are done ;)

actually i think you might be able to make a vest only take hits where the vest is exactly,
and that medic idea is cool.. but i would probably never implement it, unless the maps where huge, and probably WWII style, so that i had a chance of surviving while i went to work on a player.. and that most other things where realistic :)

You may try finding a coder who will talk to you about some of these ideas if you are really serious. Some of these ideas would deffinetly not be worth the time coding, regardless of how they affect game play.

like which ones? in interested in opinions here and i havn't heard one about my 2 legs shot out drag yourself/medic drag you/5 seconds till option to respawn idea..

well the bullet proof vest idea would work cause of the way hitboxes work, I'm sure since damage can be changed depending on where a player is hit you could easily have limited damage for the bulletproof vest, or attach an object to the player with a hitbox around it for similar effect only it would be possible to remove it (maybe they move slower carrying the vest or something)?

National Crisis is going to be pretty damn realistic but i think having a medic selecting the right stuff injecting it in right plasce etc. is takin it waaay to far. Let's be honest in reality if you are shot anyway you aren't going to continue the battle!

If you wall wanna sign up on our forums I'd be greatful so we can get discussing the game. Also if any coders looking for a mod like this stumble over this thread please get in touch! Although we ain't officially hiring yet a coder would be very useful!

Once again - www.nationalcrisis.net

cheerz!

So, if you get shot in the foot you just put your gun down and surrender?

If you can pull your trigger finger and can point the gun in the right direction you can still fight.

You are fighting for your life, the life of your fellow soldiers/officers/whatever, and for freedom/justice/whatever the case may be.

You stop fighting when you die or you can't fight... because other people's lives depend on you doing all that you possibly can.

my idea doesn't say once your shot in the foot and you go down you can't fight? or was that in response to something else?

i'm saying if both your legs are shot out, you have to grag yourself, and after 5 seconds get the option to respawn. medics could also drag you to saftey if you are being stubburn. (you can't shoot while dragging yourself, but can if a medic is dragging you)

I thought since his post was right before mine that it would be a waste to quote it...

It was an extreme example but the point im trying to make is that the modification can't be 100% realistic! We'll make the game as realistic as possible without stepping over the line!!
