These animal rights activists are crazy.

The problem though Stern is that these groups aren't just targetting big businesses like Mcdonalds and KFC and whatever, they are also attacking peoples homes and cars. Imagine your windows getting smashed in when you're watching tv with your family or your car tires being slashed when you try to take the kids to school or death threats coming through your doors stained with blood. All of this has happened to scientists in the UK by animal rights activists, scientists working on curing diseases that have plagued mankind for thousands of years.

I don't support factory farms, i don't support the fur trade or the ivory trade or whatever, however i do support scientists using animals to help cure diseases for everyone as long as the animals don't suffer needlessly i.e. some of the videos that Peta have released have showed supervisors at the animal testing facilities abusing animals and attacking them, this i am against as it has nothing to do with research.

There are 2 types of animal activist, the good kind that don't attack peoples homes and livelihood and the bad kind that do. Unfortunately, Peta have decided to help the bad kind in covering costs of defence lawyers, etc. What sort of message is this sending to people, that attacking homes and families and innocent victims is ok as if you're caught, Peta will cover the costs of your defence with the best lawyers.

So like i said, i do support animal rights but i don't support some of what Peta do and i definately don't support these terrorists and scum who attack businesses and homes and people and promote murder. My mum also runs a local charity that helps to rescue cats and kittens and find them good homes with caring people to look after them.

you cant lump everyone into "these groups"

for instance my sister in law has been after the canadian government for allowing the spring bear hunt because many cubs are left orphaned because the majority of hunters are harvesters not hunters ..they dont respect the rules and shoot any bear they see despite strict rules as to age size weight and whether or not they have offspring ....just for their spleen or other organs

or before that it was an ongoing case against the canadian government for allowing the seal hunt when there's no market for it anywhere ..their carcasses rot in warehouses because no market in the world wants them

or shutting down a puppy mill where conditions were so bad that more than half the animals had to be destroyed

but all people ever see is red paint and firebombs

I know what you mean.
Was behind a lady in a shop and she put 50p in a box for horses. Instead of one to help earthquake victims.

what she does with her money is none of your business ..why give money to earthquake relief when there's kids who go hungry every single day of their lives ....or cancer research or MS or autism or whatever

All great causes.
But a horse?

but what was it for? for horses in general? against the use of horses as food for human? was it a charity to bring underprivledged youths from some 3rd world country so they could learn to ride a horse? ..and had she spent that money on a readers digest or a pack of gum would that have been any less acceptable?

It doesn't matter. She could've put no money in and just held on to her own cash if she pleased. Any would be acceptable.

The only exception would be maybe if she donated to a "KILL THE CRIPPLES" fund or something. But yeah...

I read in New Scientist that violent attacks by extremist animal rights people have been up quite a bit lately.

Heh, same with all groups. That's the media, unfortunately.

Most animal rights people are prats.
I have known more than a dozen and i didn't like any of them.

I win. Oh and KFC doesn't kill chickens. They buy (already dead) chickens and then cook them.

kfc buys from factory farms ..often from farms with these sort of conditions ..in fact this is from one of KFC's suppliers:

chick1.jpg

in fact one of KFC's suppliers was cited for cruelty after a video surfaced:

"NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - An animal rights group released a videotape Tuesday showing slaughterhouse workers with a KFC Corp. supplier jumping on live chickens and slamming them into walls, apparently for fun. ...employees at the plant were seen stepping on the birds, kicking them and slamming them against walls and floors"

In July 2004, PETA revealed the results of an investigation into a KFC-supplying slaughterhouse in Moorefield, West Virginia, where workers were caught on video stomping on chickens, kicking them, and violently slamming them against floors and walls. Workers also ripped the animals' beaks off, twisted their heads off, spat tobacco into their eyes and mouths, spray-painted their faces, and squeezed their bodies so hard that the birds expelled feces—all while the chickens were still alive. Dan Rather echoed the views of all kind people when he said on the CBS Evening News, "[T]here's no mistaking what [the video] depicts: cruelty to animals, chickens horribly mistreated before they're slaughtered for a fast-food chain."

read the report ..if you have the stomach

corporations such as KFC are selling animals for human consumption that live in deplorable conditions that lead to outbreaks of disease like salmonella and avian flu in humans

Scaremongering. I don't recall KFC giving anyone bird flu, and salmonella is related to cooking practices- that could happen anywhere.

One supplier being irresponsible doesn't stop me from enjoying services from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Finger lickin' good.

KFC is finger-lickin' disgusting, but that's another point.

I think KFC is pretty tasty. However, usually they overcook them in grease or whatever, and the bones kind of dissolve, and its all nasty like that. Also if I eat too much of the stuff I feel sick cause of all that grease. Blegh.

Chicken is good though, its hard to mutilate the wonderful taste of chicken.

Abusive chicken rapists are evil, PETA is evil.... can't we just leave it at that?

Dude bash fast food and such all you want but almost everyone agrees that KFC is actually delicious, very delicious. It's like there HAS to be accusations of animal abuse as to prevent the place from reaching ultimate perfection.

...bash fast food?

Advice: Stop reading posts, mutilating them, leaving your computer to take a shit, come back, put your tin foil hat on, and remember the post completely differently and respond.

KFC sucks. The end. :|

Uhh...you gonna eat that or can I dig in?

In all seriousness, you people are seeing this issue in black and white. There is a lot of sick stuff that is going on to animals. I am in no way an animal rights activist but I don't dismiss the truth that people do abuse animals and there is more sick stuff that goes on. However, I always just remember that scared cows taste better. Just kidding, thats a horrible saying.

I know, I thought it was pretty hilarious tbh

stern, where did i even mention the word PETA in my post? I was refering to the nutjobs who are like some sort violent take on the planeteers who sink to using deaththreats, violence, and questionable means.

and yes, maybe i'm putting a different interpretation on to what you have written, but you seem to have been giving a very strong vibe that you support the crazies. Especially with the "its only corporate property, so what?" attitude.

KFC is better than most sit down restaurants!

Maybe the one near you has shitty service or something :(

omg you cant possibly believe that nonsense ..ever wonder how kfc is served so fast? ..chicken with the bone in takes upwards of 40 minutes to cook in 400 C ..so how is it that you get the chicken in less than 5?

I'll admit that I don't go to it very often.

Arby's is the best fast food, ever.

Anyone who eats fast food deserves to be served anything.

I remember the last time i had fast food was about 5 years ago, was a KFC if i remember correctly, i actually threw up because i found it that disgusting.
I only eat food that i have made from fundamental natural ingredients.

Not being sarcastic, but probably because it's in England.

Was reading along and people who have had fair amounts of it overseas (and even in Canada I hear) compared to here, it sucks. Apparantly they serve a lot more stuff at the ones here too (like, theres about 10 different side variations you can get here)

I've been to KFC on both sides of the Atlantic, I can honestly say it's the same. MacDs is the same too, apart from in the USA the burgers are bigger.

And you can drink as much coke as you like.
