I was thinking of the same thing. The Mistress said:ID software never said the physics would be usefull, there just there to add abit more realism, like most physcis in most games.
Its nice to know you give a game a whole 5 mins, you would'nt of even got into the fighting within 5 mins, so yea... I dunno how you can say its just anouther FPS when you never even got to the shooting.

ItchyFish said:All the people from the first 6is posts are making yourselves sound a bit foolish imo, seeing how Doom came out before HalfLife by a considerable amount of years, and the story for Doom3 is basically the same for Doom, so infact it is HalfLife who copied Doom dont you think?

Mountain Man said:There are times playing Doom 3 that I feel like it's more an homage to Half-Life than the original Doom. In fact, one level in the game is a virtual carbon copy of "On a Rail".
Xenome said:Doom 3 steals ALOT of things from half-life 1, not only the story,
KingPing_NOR said:ehh.....Doom was befor HL. Doom 3s story is the same as Dooms story. Even if we dident notice all that much of the story in doom, it was it. Doom 3 is as Doom and Doom 2 never happend.
Fishlore said:Ssshhhh! Don't tell that to the rabid fanboys. They don't want to hear that. They want to continue to believe that Half Life was the greatest and most original story ever told. The very foundation of our lives is based upon the all powerful Half Life. And don't bring up Doom. Since Doom is not Half Life, the fanboys will hate it by default. They don't even need to play it to know they hate it. Why? Because it's not Half Life.

Nope. Doom had a premise. In fact, the premise was a mainstay of science fiction and horror literature long before Carmack and Romero were even born, so Doom can't even claim the premise as its own. Seriously, "creatures from another dimension coming to take over the earth" is a well worn cliché.ItchyFish said:All the people from the first 6is posts are making yourselves sound a bit foolish imo, seeing how Doom came out before HalfLife by a considerable amount of years, and the story for Doom3 is basically the same for Doom, so infact it is HalfLife who copied Doom dont you think?
If your done trolling, please go away. It's nice to see how you think the universe began with Doom, and every other game which shares ideas got them from it. You really dug deep into this issue, which I applaud, and your use of the strawman fallacy just adds to the strength of your arguments. If you bothered to read most of the other people's posts, you could tell that most of them've played Doom3. If you aren't in some form of debate club, you should join one, because you'd be a valuable asset.Fishlore said:Ssshhhh! Don't tell that to the rabid fanboys. They don't want to hear that.
