Things that didnt make the cut (Spoilers)
Im on my second time playing through and it appears to me there are many things that never made it into HL2.
Many videos were released in the run up from the announcement of HL2 to the eventual release. Screenshots on Valves official HL2 website still show ingame shots of combine soldiers armed with OICW's and rebel soldiers with that cut down version of the MP5. Several sections of the game seem not to have made it at all, such as the more open street battles shown in the E3 trailer. "Traptown" (did it turn into ravenhome?) is not in, aswell as scripted sequences such as combine troops kicking down doors and the blue tentacle that impales a combine soldier in the sewers in an earlier video. Also in many videos you can see other parts of existing levels that were cut.
Open the model viewer and you can see three enemies that didnt get in. The "Synth" and "Mortar Synth" and the Icthyosaur. These have textures and several animations. The Synth is actually seen in the game during the last coffin ride to Breens office and the Icthyosaur during the teleports in Red letter day. Also the large slug like creature Breen is seen talking to on monitor screens is named "Advisor" and even has attack animations?
Anyone know why these things happened? Im not giving out or anything I absoutily love the game. Im just curious mabye we'll see some of this stuff in an addon pack?
