At least it won't be in that tedious town hall format where half the time is spent guffing about how terrific the questions are.

Anyone else going to watch?

I won't pretend that I think it'll be blisteringly exciting, but quite a lot has happened in the world since the last debate. We've had Troopergate find Palin to be in abuse of her power, racists heckle and bewilder McCain on the campaign trail, not to mention the twists and turns with the stock market.

Unfortunately, Obama probably doesn't even need to mention any of the the most interesting stuff, since the election and thus the debate is his to lose at this point. And since he seems comfortable with a fairly toothless style of debating, the fact that he doesn't have to mention Troopergate et al means that he almost certainly won't.

McCain, well he really needs to pull it out of the bag since this is his last real chance to look good at Obama's expense but I doubt he has it in him. He'll probably just get angry and fiddle with his catheter.

That's good that it's 9, a new Pushing Daisies episode will be on... Hopefully.

But yes, I will be paying close attention to it and Factcheck.org, FC is my bestie.

Go Obama

Don't worry, hopefully the world will be here tomorrow so you can watch it. If not it doesn't really matter anyway.

There is no point in going soft, Obama needs to break him and show he genuinely means business.

I don't know about anybody else, but this year I've been heavily into politics and these debates are huge exciting events for me, even though they're really boring. I watch enthusiastically.

Same. Something happened to me a few years back and I got hooked on political stuff on TV in Britain, like Question Time, This Week, etc...

Even when a debate or Q&A session with politicians is not full of fireworks, I still find it entertaining; looking at the mannerisms of each participant, assessing their psychologies relative to the stakes involved, watching for lies or appeals to emotion to see who's most desperate... Fascinating if you're not averse to a slow, laid back evening.

last debate was too embarrassing to watch,I doubt I will watch this one.

Sweet, I got a full TV lineup tonight. First the debate, then Southpark, then Chocolate News.

Its like, the later it gets, the more important the show is.

You know how people who are lying tend to blink alot? McCain just blinked about 50 times in a minute when talking about "Joe's" tax breaks.

LOL that 'Joe the Plumber' shit was so contrived.

'OMG evryboddy i saw omama the othre dey he saided dat joe teh plumber im gona mek u 2 pay taxies! lol & he sayd joe i spred teh welts im a combunits lol can u belive??!'

BTW I like this new question about both the candidates increasing the deficit. Difficult question for both, particularly McCain whose plan apparently increases the deficit by the most.

This mediator is awesome. Hes not letting either of them make claims that they will do something without backing it up with

Holy **** his question right now is the greatest thing ever.

EDIT: ****ing lol

McCain: "I watched the arizona cardinals win their game this sunday..."
Obama: "Congratulations"

rofl.

John McCain's floundering so bad it's frightening. Obama's pissing himself laughing - justifiably - but he needs to be careful that he doesn't come off as too smug. I really didn't think that John McCain would come out and start shooting himself in the foot this maniacally.

They are dealing with some of the meaty stuff about negative campaigning in more detail than I thought they would be. Better than anticipated, so far.

what a hilariously bad response regarding the palin question....gg america

By far.

I wish the mediator would have stopped McCain when he started talking about Obama's spending policy when the question was "Would Biden be a good president?"

McCain looks like he's going to pull out a shiv and make a lunge at someone. Seriously wtf.

McCain won't stop blinking!

On the other hand, Obama won't stop listening to McCain and then suddenly grinning maniacally and turning away.

I think he's finding it as funny as I am. It's the only thing he's really doing wrong in this debate but I can't say I blame him.

Lawd, that was some major ownage.

"Here's how much you're gonna pay, Joe: Zero!"

"ZERO?"

Look on McCain's face: PRICELESS.

Hahahahahaha.

When Obama just said he exempts small businesses and "Joe the plumber" will pay "ZERO" dollars in fines, and McCain was just like "Zero?" and then he D-Colon'd

D:

EDIT: Yes, someone else noticed it too haha! That was hilarious.

McCain's been trumpeting about this health insurance fine for small businesses for a long time. From what I understand, it's always been wrong/a lie. He needs to fire whoever told him to bring it up again because he just set himself up for Obama to PWN him flat.

He also needs to fire whoever it was who came up with this Joe the Plumber shit and told him to stick with it. It's laughable. He sounds like a cartoon character.

Obama's smiling is infectious. I can't stop grinning.

"Hey Joe, you're rich. Congratulations."

I half expected him to add, "Welcome to the club. Now, join me and let's make sure nobody gets tax increases."

This moderator is awesome.

Oh snap!

"If it seems incredible that I would deny life-saving treatment to an infant, that's because it's - NOT TRUE!"

Gg Obama.

Lily Leadbetter? Senator Government? Joe the Plumber?

Again, I smell the makings of some claymation Kids' TV show... Maybe they can round out the cast with President Warsalot. Or just Sarah Palin.

In other news, I don't think discussing abortion is going to change anyone's vote. I can't imagine anyone at home, on the basis of this issue, sitting up and saying 'OH THAT'S INTERESTING I GUESS I WAS WRONG *changes vote*.'

What the ****? McCain wants people who served in the military be able to go right into teaching without being tested or have training in teaching? WHAT
