Third and final presidential debate

Hahaha, McCain finishes his arguments on one issue with a pissed-off sarcastic remark and a smug laugh. Then it goes right into final statements and he turns straight to Obama and says 'it's been great to be with you, I think we've had a healthy debate.'

Healthy my foot, McCain has looked like he was going to die from sheer rage at points.

Well, I agree that this debate was the best of the lot, if only becuase I think it's been Obama's most decisive victory. I really didn't expect them both to come out and go on the attack like they did. Obama didn't need to and McCain's negativity had already hurt him loads. But they did and IMO McCain got obliterated, largely because he looked on the brink of sanity.

Still, it was a pretty good debate, all things considered. Especially in comparison.

What comment? I think I missed that part.

I didnt quite catch it either Raz. It was right at the end when the moderator started talking to close up the speech. McCain tried to talk over him and get in a last comment, and then he just smiled and laughed as the moderator finished.

Oh no, I meant the part before the closing statements, where he summarised Obama's policy sarcastically and gave his trademark incredulous chuckle.

Edit: yeah, the bit Krynn said. I can;t remember it exactly - iirc Obama was talking down education vouchers because of problems with them in Washington, and McCain said something sarcastic like 'Because there aren't enough vouchers, we shouldn't do it, even though it's working...! Right *chuckle*.'
Still, it was a pretty good debate, all things considered. Especially in comparison.
Oh yeah, it was definitely entertaining. I meant unhealthy in that it wasn't even remotely good natured this time around...

Yeah, thats what he said. He said it quite sarcastically.

It was like Obama had to argue with a 4 year old. McCain just kept repeating the false accusations from his script over and over, right after Obama corrected him several times. Even in the final minutes, he would incorrectly state Obama's policies, right after Obama just said what they were! It was really despicable, but I can't even be sure it wasn't just some sort of Alzheimer problem McCain has, or if he is really that dirty.

I think Obama nailed this debate.

Whoever said Democrats were the ones with no ideas and Republicans are the ones with bad ideas, they seem to be right about Republicans, but apparently, they never met anyone like Obama; I really think he has some great ideas.

I imagine McCain spending lots of time relaxing or playing golf with his pal George W. Bush, while I imagine Obama studying diligently over policy, taking note of available statistics as to what works and what doesn't, and modifying domestic policy accordingly. I truly believe in his strategies and his willingness to work tirelessly for the American people.

And when it comes to foreign policy, I expect McCain to come off too hot headed and unlikeable, with Obama firm on his stances and administering them with unprecedented finesse and eloquence.

I really see McCain as more war, and Obama as better world relations.

Ah wtf, I wanted to see this live. Is there some site showing it stand alone (not the random stuff coming on the other links now). 'tube doesn't have it yet, not that I see.

something like debate.com or something has all three debates up. Google it

I'm watching the CNN feed atm and frankly I'm surprised that anyone, let alone their reporters, are saying that this was McCain's best performance. That's a joke...! And I'm someone who felt that he won the very first one.

Now they're reading the poll results from debate watchers and the reality is showing through, The overwhelming majority are saying that Obama won and McCain was way too negative.

Also lol at this Republican mouthpiece guy they have, the author of the 'The Case Against Obama' book. He keeps harping on this Annenberg shit as if he's a genius for being the only person in the world to bring it up.

http://mydebates.org has all of the debates so far, and if it doesn't have this one up there yet it will soon.

right, I meant to mention that. No matter what, McCain always had something negative to say, and didn't have any grounds. He was wrong or lying what seemed every single time.

I mean, does he even have an explanation for lying over and over, or is that just part of his plan? Was he being very negative in the hopes that people of low intelligence will buy into it based on his slander? That's what I suspect.

McCain did his best, but Obama just completely outclassed him. Obama trounced him.

I missed the first twenty minutes, but from what I saw it looked like a confident and aggressive McCain melted into a snide, angry man who looked as if he wanted to strangle Obama for the better half of the debate. He also clearly repeated falsehoods over and over again after Obama would carefully set the records straight, as though he was willfully propagating a lie or was having a senior moment.

Obama wasn't stellar, but then didn't have to be. He just needed to smoothly sail through while his opponent starts blowing up. His more civil tone contrasted sharply with McCain's seeming condescension and rudeness. Even the small bits start to add up. For every "I disagree with John McCain" Obama had to preface a sentence with, McCain would retort with some snotty remark and that shit-eating laugh/grin. Oh, and the constant interruptions... So I'd say Obama won, but god knows how it may have appealed to other voters.

I hope he was aggressive enough to satisfy a base that has long wished to draw blood from Obama, because he may have very well turned off everybody else.

loool, I'm watching part of a rerun on cspan2, mccain said "obama blah blah tax small business"
obama: "NO, I said they are exempt"
mccain (LITERALLY): :O

You could see McCain's desperation oozing out of him tonight. What an angry, angry man. Sad,really.

That's the entire McCain/Palin campaign. Especially with Palin. Repeat lies again and again and again, and ignore the fact that they are speedily and thoroughly debunked. Just keep repeating it time and time again because you have nothing else to say, and if you admit that your talking points have been debunked, then you have absolutely nothing going for you at all.

To me it seems that McCain wants to be president for selfish reasons; for glory. Obama seems to want to be the president for selfless reasons; for honor.

While I believe that it would be an honor for McCain, but he is running for president for the glory. He has served the country his entire adult life. He just sees presidency as the highest military rank, and I don't think hes really going to make much of a change for the better. If he is elected president, I suspect things won't get any better, or become much worse.

Just saw part of the debate on youtube. Just reading the comments makes you think how many republican voters are complete nuts. I thought that that part of McCain's speech where he mentioned the association with Ayers, and then suddenly jumped to what the core purposes of his campaign was dumb.

Anyway, here is the vid for those who haven't watched it

Just started streaming it.

Lol @ this 'Joe the Plummer' shit.

Also Mccain's blinking!! Even when Obama is talking, wtf.

One of those youtube comments called Obama a 'borderline sociopath'. I lol'd heartily.

I will almost feel sorry for McCain if he loses this election. I'd much rather feel sorry for McCain for him losing than sorry for our entire country if he wins though, let's be clear.

I would feel sorry, because it's pretty much guaranteed he'll never ever have the chance to run for presidency again. This is it, this is his last chance before he dies most likely. In four more years, he'll either be dead or significantly older and suffering more health issues.

I must say that even though i disagree with his policies and whatnot, I do actually like John McCain. He seems like a decent guy.

Did anyone else notice both candidates wore tie colors of the opposite party? I thought that was kinda funny. :p

Democrat=blue
Republican=red
right?

Fell asleep earlyyyy last night. Anyone know where I can get the full song and dance?

Edit: Nvm, didn't see SoulSlicer's post.

Yeah, that was a good debate alright. Lots of excitement. Well, lots of angry McCain as the GOP base has been screaming for. Sadly for them, he comes off terribly when he does this. He seemed arrogant, bitter, mean-spirited, negative, and false. I think Obama's statements about his negative campaigning were right on the money and the fact that McCain tried to turn it around and play the martyr was beyond contemptible. The republican campaign is a nasty, rude, and desperate machine at this point and the piss-poor attempts at character assassination are evidence of this. Obama is right when he says that the republicans' campaign cannot talk about the issues so instead they try to divert the public's attention from the things that really matter with negative campaign ads trying to smear Obama's character. Despicable.

LOLOLOLOLOL.

I don't think McCain can help his blinking, tbh.
Probably something that happened to him while he was a POW.

To be fair, Obama blinks a hell of a lot as well. Something I've noticed from both of them.

I do say it is preferable than to Cheney's "MY EYES ARE MADE OF COLD STAINLESS STEEL, THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE LUBRICATION FROM BLINKING"

McCain wants to be president so that he can ass grab whomever he wants ...no really

faggit!
Nice pic!! And Palin was only picked so she can be the ritual cum-dumpster of the Religious Right in their hideous mating ceremonies so that they can try to breed out the religious and ethnic minority scum. (Note that McCain never stated that fact during his "answer" to the Palin question last night.)

I think it was something of an insecurity/nervous thing.

lol

what a ignorant thing to say.

oh, like you have any room to talk.

Half the time you can't even make a complete sentence, and the other half of the time it's pure ignorance.
