- Zombies are the slow kind.
- One bite and you're infected (dead).
- You don't get to customise your character. You get a random name, age, job, appearance, clothes and sex.
- When you die instead of going back to a checkpoint you spawn as a new survivor and must hunt down your previous character and kill their zombie to loot their equipment.
- Friends are alerted to when you are killed and go hunt you down and loot you in their own game.
- The Wii U tablet acts as the inventory management screen, map, scanner and lockpicking interface. The game world does not pause while you rummage through shelves or lockpick so you have to make sure you have enough time to accomplish those tasks before starting them.
- There are special/boss zombies.
- Multiplayer modes include a Zombie Master mode (and yes, that is what they are actually calling it) where one player uses the tablet controller and sees the map as an overhead view and spawns zombies to attack the players who are using the Wii U Pro controllers. Sounds familiar...
