Usually everything comes from my imagination but if theres something bothering in the picture I go and find some similiar pics or use myself to compare.
But generally I can discover the problem by stop drawing and start drawing with my left hand! Then when I come back to it everything seems clear again. I have to train both of my left and right brain in order to see the right form, not the way I think I see them..thats a good tip :)

Wow, thats not only extraordinary for not using references, but I've honestly never heard of using the left hand like that.

really?
I discovered one day when I looked some drawings with a mirror the whole image looked all unbalanced. After that I regularly check drawings with a mirror. I thought a long time I had somekind of problem because I had to do that,
but I found out that some really amazing artist did that too.
So they adviced to use the left hand occasionally too.

It definitely works; those are some really great paintings. By the way, any certain inspiration for the portraits? They seem very 40s-esqe

Like, are the women in those portaits based mostly off people you know, or do you create a whole new person.

a pencil drawing sketch of a water creature I made some time ago. I´m still thinking of colouring it with computer, but as I think the amount of work I have to do ,it wont happen really soon..

That's one of the tips I stuck in the Pro tip thread. Using a mirror sometimes works a treat, really shows up errors that aren't obvious until you stop looking at what you think you're drawing and look at what you are actually drawing. Picked that one up from Jim Burns about 2 decades ago :)

Anyway, outstanding work without using reference - I hope you have made a career out of it, would be a waste not to.

DAMMIT,

I totally second that!

How old are you? I'm sure you could get a great job if you just put toghether a portfolio and started asking around...
Great art!

21 now, graduate at December, so I´m just figuring out what to do next. But I´ll keep that in mind ;)

yeah well, going to put something new later.. I get kind of bored doing only pretty stuff, so I´m trying something different again..
thanks again! :)

Well get started on your portfolio then! :p

I'm sure The Dark Elf and/or CROM can help you out concerning what makes a good portfolio, they're both seasoned...

Seasoned? how DARE you

;)
Well I'm a pretty brave guy! :bounce:

But I meant it in a positive way, you both've worked with this kind of stuff, no?

Ooh brilliant drawings. They do look very forties-war-poster ish. In a good way of course.

First time I'd noticed an art forum, first thread I opened. I no longer plan on posting any of my stuff ;)

Great portraits, by the way... amazing details in the face especially in the last one. Did you say you coloured them in PSP? how long did it take?

What Da Vinci can do with smiles, you can do with eyes.
Do I need to say more.

Wow...very beautiful artwork. My hats off too ya!
