Too blind for the story? Please help (spoilers)

Hey guys,

I'm taking it very slow and play in relatively small portions, just to get all details from the game. It seems like I do not succeed as others tell me what they got from the game and have story elements I did not see.

For example: I've just come to Nova prospect prison (an annoying level for me but that's personal taste). I've fought my way in, have fought countless attacks from Combine soldiers, antlions (can we say the most annoying enemy ever?) and the antlion queen and all that.

Now I'm in a room where I can see part of the citadel (I think it's the citadel if I remember the binks right) and am still running around, trying to find my way.

What I don't understand: ppl have told me you see how the combine are "made" there and you get to know some background info for the story. I didn't get anything? Am I too stupid? The prison contains no prisoners (only a Vortigaut who is tortured), only troops and antlions. What is with that? Or is the prison even larger and I will see this later? What does the citadel mean there? I can't access it, there's a door between me and the room and I can't get past it.

It just seems that I don't get the whole story although I check everything...

And how far is Nova Prospect in the game? How long will I have left?

Please tell me about the place where you can see how the combine are "made" and the story is told.

On one of the security camera places you get to see a combine medical lab. One of them has no clothes on with the exeption of his pants. He looks creepy.

I dunno if you do or not, but knowing all about HL1 helps some.

You get to see a lot more by the last level. It explains some things, but it raises even more questions.

Well, I'm not so far then? I have played HL1 a lot of times and know almost everything If the only thing I get to know about Nova Prospect from is the screen then that is a little weak and most is speculation right?

How far am I in the game then?

Nova Prospect is 2/3 done or thereabouts, but lots of fun stuff coming up.

In HL noone ever directly tells you directly what is going on. It's what makes it interesting (and frustrating). The backstory and plot is almost all learned by what you can see and overhear; and some of it, of course, you really have to look and listen for it.

Edit: Sometimes all the looking and listenting n the world won't make things completely clear, even, if Valve wants to keep it a secret. :imu:

Ya prone, u got some ways to go.. but that rumor u heard.. its not till WAY later.. its near the very end of the game. Trust me, when u see it u'll known what you're seeing. cuz BTW, Nova Prospekt isn't the citadel. You learn about this stuff in the citadel. You'll get there.
