My friend just sent me this from IGN
http://pc.ign.com/articles/451/451076p1.html?fromint=1

I dont know about you guys but Tool is my most favorite band. And Im glad to hear that they're working on stuff together again.

I think I herd that once Maynard is done touring with APC, Tool will be making a nother cd.

And also there's been talk of a live DVD, confirmed that they are making it, just no word of when it will be out.

Interesting that a band is doing songs for the game. Certainly not the first time a band has decided to do recordings for a video game, but will see how it contributes (or possibly wrecks) the atmosphere.

Ah, Trent and Rob, where art tho. (reznor & zombie for people unaware)

It was sad to hear that Trent and NIN wouldn't be doing anything for Doom 3, however TOOL would be just as suited for the game. Excellent news.

If you knew Tool, you would know they could do NOTHING to wreck the atmosphere of Doom. Download Tools version of No Quarter. Its a good example of the the mood they can project. And of corse DL;

Sober, Forty-six & Two, Intolerance, Schism, and The Grudge.

Trent Reznor had to stop working on it because he had other things that were eating up his time. This is neat, though, and hopefully it turns out well. I've also heard rumors that Vrenna (ex-NIN, did the Alice music) might be doing Doom 3 music.

Yea, those rumors about Vrenna spawned after he was seen hanging around at quakecon with some of the Id guys.

There is also a new pic of doom3, along with an interview, if your interested.

Very reminiscent of the Aliens 2 LV-426 (I think thats its name) Outdoor Building Archetechture. I like.

That screenshot blew my mind! Awesome!

Are those spidery things meant to run along ceilings?

No idea. They usually originate from the ceilings, then they slide down on a thread of "web stuff"(lol what is it called?). So you would think that they are capable of crawling on the ceilings, like the imp is.

so, tool is doing One "Song"? maybe vrenna is doing the rest of the game music, the game can't only have one song...someone email jc and ask him if vrenna is doing the music, or ask who is..

Spiders Silk , this is one of the few Doom3 screens that actually impresses me.

Thats great news.

Maynard is my man god.

I saw APC on friday too ^_^

I recently picked up The 13th Step. I got it the day it came out actually. APC kicks my ass! I saw Tool in August of 2002 at the Newhaven Colleseum in Connecticut. Amazing. Maynard also has another band project called Puscifer. Should be cool. I cant wait to here anything new from Tool. Maynard, Justin, Adam, and Danny are my music heroes. :D

Well, doom3 wont have random loops playing in the background like other games, it wont have actual music playing nonstop. All the sound during the game will be ambient atmospheric noise. This is to create immersion and atmosphere. There may be music at certaint times, like maybe in a "boss fight".

PlanetQuake: Speaking of sound, how is the music being done?

TimWillits: It's more ambient. We don't have tracks - it's more like area music-scapes. More of a personal sound instead of random looping tracks.

My guess is that Tool is doing the theme for doom3, not ingame music.

Wait? Im in class now, and the kid next to me just downloaded a new DOOM3 video. We dont have our speakers hooked up but we were watching. They interviewed Trent Reznor. He kept coming on and off the screen. Im guessing 5 minutes was spent just talking with Trent. Are you guys sure hes not doing the music?

That was prolly the legacy video, its not new at all. It was made just after e3 2002.

yeah, thirteenth step is good, also check out the underworld soundtrack, it has a puscifer track, plus it has a song that maynard wrote, 19 of the tracks were produced by danny lohner, its good shit.

THAT IS AWESOME!!! Tool are the best - it's not only that the music is good but it also makes you stop and think about things, and somehow have a different experience than you would normally have with music. You just cannot believe how f*cking happy I am!!!

As for the new album, well Danny said that they had a lot of stuff left over from Lateralus, and since they stopped touring this year they're probably going to record some new stuff right after A Perfect Circle finishes touring.... which is on the same day HL2 is meant to be released, September 30th. I can't wait!

I hope the 000000000000000000000000000000000000.01 FPS won't lag the music.

Yes, because we know IGN are bullshitting us when they say "Todd was good enough to offer an idea of where he thinks the overall recommended requirements will lie. He imagines that the game will run well on a 1GHz machine with 256MB of RAM and a GeForce 2 or equivalent card".

Lets just hope they fix the requerments within the next like.....year or so.
