The only real awesome weapons I can think of are the Gravity gun and the assault rifle from Halo. The Gravity gun is pretty awesome just because I can re-define the meaning of killing someone with a box. I don't really use it that much though, but it is still pure awesome.

I dislike Halo on every level. Except the Assault rifle, because really, it looks, sounds, and acts like god. Well, maybe not, but its awesome nonetheless.

That list fails:| . How can you put the chainsaw in there, I mean you could take out a guy wielding it way before he had any chance to get near you. The q2 BFG is much better then the Doom BFG IMHO. The Gravity Gun is indeed original and cool, but I still prefer a good old fashion assault rifle. Where the heck is the Redeemer?!

Anyway, that list... well, putting the chainsaw up there is pretty stupid. Otherwise, it's not bad. I think the Railgun should've been higher up, though, because it's so damn awesome (<3 Quake 2). But I'm glad the gravity gun took first. It's just that kickass.

Have you ever played the q3 Madness mod? The BFG has 2 modes of fire the first one is the regular fast fire mode but with more damage and the second mod is DAMN INSANE!!! It use a lot of ammo (about 50 BFG ammo), and it shoots a giant green energy ball that kills near by enemies with laser beams just like the regular q2 BFG, but when it finally hits whatch out. It makes a gigantic explosion that would make the Redeemer seem like a mere pop gun, literally destroying everyone on the map.

The chainsaw is the ultimate 'play the game different for a while' weapon, I love it. Sometimes I like to punch the shit out of zombies too.

I never liked railguns, except for maybe the one they picked for the top 10, for the record.

The Time Shock weapon from Project Eden was fun to use, especially when you're spamming an area with the secondary mode fire which launches a medium-sized sphere on the ground.

Actually now that I think about it, using the Shotgun in Doom was much more satisfying than the chainsaw.

I'd have stuck the original Doom pump action at the top, closely followed by the Golden Eye Dostovei - there's no better pistol.

It's nice to see the laptop gun get a mention, but Gravity gun at the top! bah humbug to that.

Tau Cannon should have been swapped in for the Rail Gun IMO. And the Redeemer is a better BFG than the BFG is.

Best Melee weapon of all time has to be the Shield Gun from UT2004. If you've got movement nailed down, you don't even need to use the other weapons to keep pace. Usually a one-shot kill and you're forever picking up cheap kills by stumbling round corners. Pisses people off something crazy though

I have a soft-spot for System Shock 1's Laser Rapier though. You went toe to toe with even the biggest monsters with that thing. HACK! HACK! DIE!

I also love Shotguns in most games. Unreal's various Flak Cannons have always been great, but there's just something wonderfully powerful about the Shotty in Half-Life 2. Nothing like firing both barrels off at close-range and taking almost anything down, and mighty useful for punting dangerous grenades away too.

Perhaps i'm not thinking of the same gun, but this thing sounded wimpy and looked generic from what I remember. But that's besides the point, because it sucked at actually killing things. You'd offload this thing for ages and get nowhere when compared to using the covenant plasma rifle or even the human pistol. I also find it hard to believe that people bitch and whine about the accuracy of Half-Life 2's MP7 when Halo's Assault Rifle exists.
