Translation of the entire Gamereactor interview
I remember reading a thread about the writing that whizzes past on the psyche ( ) bink. Apparently it mentions a scientific explaination of 'messing with the brain' ( ).
Maybe the Gman whipes Gordons memory after every mission so to Gordon, and the player, this will actually feel like he's went from HL1 to HL2. Later on in the game we might find out whats really been happening with Gordon.
i posted an explanation in a thread about amgydelic suppression. that might be what youre talking about. it wouldnt be used for memory suppression, but thats not saying another technique would be used for that as well. if you want a refresher on my explanation, check out http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20185&page=2&pp=15&highlight=amygdala

So, supposedly they won't work on CS2 until after a looooooong vacation? That makes me wonder if the CS2 video we saw on the new E3 video was just the reguler CS ported to the HL2 engine with a revamped aztec map and a few other minor changes. If that's the case, just think how much more we can look forward to in CS2 if they havn't even really worked on it yet :)

thats exactly what it was. CS: source. not CS2.

Man I hope TF2 is HL2's multiplayer. Beats gay ass CS:S, thats for sure.

Allot of interesting information im hoping the AI will be able to respond to you doing pretty much anythying, hopefully valve put allot of thought into that. For instance if you were to pic up a bucket with minipulator gun and then drop it on a friendly or enemys head, would you shoot at you as if he could see through it? Would he shoot around blindly like an idiot and not no how to respond to this, or would he do something smart like dive away to pull the bucket off. It will be interesting using the minipulator for things like that. Blinding your enemy. MAbey smashing a light on there head temperarily blinding them, one can only hope :).

"Both yes and no (laughter). Marc Laidlaw wrote a 1000-pages thick bible on the Half-Life universe after the first game and as I said earlier there is lots and lots to tell."

Hmm, I wonder if this will be published. ^_^

TF2

not teamfortress classic 2. Also I think tf2 is indeed the hl2 multiplay.. there both in the "finishing" stages and they said they are about to take a huge break and havent announced anything about mp or a release date for tf2 (or media!?) it seems like it has to be the mp

Very good theory...Im gonna have to agree strongley with yeah on that one!

I agree with babyheadcrab, IMO I think that Half-Life 2 is complete, and now they are rushing to finish TF2 for release with HL2 this summer...

Good to see valve made their engine as per their requirements - this shows that source is capable of doing good stuff, unlike other engines which just want plastic model facelifts.

I was fearing that the AI wouldn't be as good, but that interview has relieved me a bit.

Nice work on that translation-Now I really want to get my hands on that 'Half-life Bible'.

Visiting Valve

Petter travelled to Seattle, as the only Scandinavian journalist that'd get to play Half-Life 2 and got himself a long conversation with Gabe Newell..

Actually, that's incorrect. The finnish magazine Pelit also visited Valve and played around with HL2.

thanx for the translation buddy. i was really looking for new info abt hl2 ,especially from Gabe Newell.

Thanks for translating it

I. Want. That. Half-Life. Bible.

On the floor around the conference table there are full-scale steel replica's of all the weapons Gordon had in his first adventure. I'm asking Gabe about these which prove to be extremely heavy, he replies that they were made by a fan that made them and mailed them one by one to Valve. "We were very happy", he says.

Some stuff in that interview are wrong like"all the weapons Gordon had in his first adventure"
Gordon has never had his hands on those weapons, because they were made as replicas of TFC weapons.
And this is wrong to"a fan that made them and mailed them one by one to Valve"
They where shipped from Sweden with DHL aircargo in one big crate not one by one.

Good job on the translation CH

I want that bible. I imagine it contains all M.Laidlaw's details on Xen and the world of Half-Life. I wonder if it's illustrated...?

I reckon Kleiner's expansion pack would be something along the lines of "See Enemy = Run Away".

hl's real plot was inspired from the novel "13th mandela".In the original HL ,if you carefully check out freeman's locker while grabing the hev suit, u could find out a red book with the name "13th mandela".u need to crouch a bit to see it clearly.

I thought it was inspired by the short story, "The Mist".

"13th Mandala" was a book M. Laidlaw wrote. I'd imagine that's why it's in the game.

wow, nice! :D good job Crazy! :D

i liked the interview too... (especially the subtle hints towards HL3! :O)

now im waiting inpatiently even more for the game to come out!! *walks back and fourth 10 times* is it out yet??? :bounce: :|

Actually, it was "The 37th Mandala" (that he wrote, but I think the book was the 13th Mandala). "The Mist" was a story by Stephen King, if I recall.

Hmmm....The "mandalas" in this novel were described as eaters of emotions. And since that book is in the game, that might explain the emotionlessness of the G-man?. Too far-fetched prolly, but it'd be cool if it were that, a bit cross-genre, but still cool.

Ya, I'm pretty sure HL1 was inspired by Stephen King's "The Mist". I've read it, it's about a group of people stuck in some sort of grocery store because a mist rolls in that contains different types of creatures that, of course, ends up killing many of them. Somehow they eventually find out that the mist was created by a laboratory experimenting with portals that went out of control. There is also a description of a large creature in the short story that resembles the "big momma" in HL1. You know, the mother of all the headcrabs with the sack hanging from its belly. There might be other elements that HL1 used from the story that I didn't notice, but I do remember that it was a pretty good read.

Pjotr, don't be a tight-arse; if the mods haven't jumped on it then c'est la vie.

Deprivation of legitimate advertising revenue - pfft. I suppose you think using Firefox with Adblock is unethical too? Don't make me puke...

very nice translation, I bet it would be cool to work at valve

Cheers Abom, I was a little worried there actually

Thats ileagal(Spelling) though Pjotr, your little comparison fails right there. I could understand if it was an IGN Insider link, as that requires a SUBSCRIPTION! If you want to compare it by the translating... I should go translate this whole site for the Spanish speaking Half Life players, post it on another Forum and still give credit to Halflife2.net.

Abom meant an online Article, not online content.
if it were from the magazine then ok it would be illegal, but its the same thing as quoting from IGN or Gamespy, or Gamespot (say a review or something)
