No this isn't a delay thread. Well I guess you could call it one.

Anyway, here it is 9 days before the supposed release date of September 30th, and we still have no solid, confirmed release date. Sure valve says "we think the game will come out the 30th". It's 9 days before the supposed release date, so how come we don't hear them saying "The game will come out the 30th? Also, we haven't heard a SINGLE thing about HL2 multiplayer yet. This 30th date is really looking bad.

the FAR more important fact you have missed out is that we havent had no solid confimred delay.


the closer we get to the 30th the more likely it will be the 30th, saying its delayed 3 weeks before it comes out is a hell of a lot more intelignet than a week before it comes out.

But on the reverse side, there haven't been any confirmed delayed comments either.

If anyone knows whether the game is delayed or not it's clearly VALVe above all....and I would hope that at this point if the game was/is going to be delayed they would have mentioned it in an official statement.

I can't see them waiting until the last second to say it's delayed if they already KNOW it's not going to make sept30th.

Anything holding it up now I would think would be minor bugs or tweaking issues, otherwise they would have officially "delayed" it. (I would hope anyway, especially with all the rabid fans waiting.)

I think it will be slightly late...a week perhaps.....but nothing too bad.

there is no "gold date". They don't have to announce it if they don't want to, and 7 days isn't like a minimum. Look at many examples, HL1 apparently went gold 4 days before it was in stores or something. Don't worry about it. I trust valve. If they finish on the 29th theyll still have it on steam on the 30th.

You don't schedule a time to announce the game is being released. you just do it. You only schedule announcements for planned things(and gold dates can't really be planned).

Confirming the release date wouldn't be giving anything away. It is really unusual, but then again HL2 isn't being made by your usual developer.

If you look at it closely though they told us the release the only thing they have done is avoided confirming it, which is a good way of raising controversy and commotion.

Wait a day till the 22nd.. According to that guy who visited Valve their should be an anoucement tomorrow, and if you buy it off Steam it should begin sending to you. I dont think it will be delayed at this point, they obviously know a week before release if they need to delay the game or not.

Another possible thing that COULD hold it to be delayed if it were, would be the tweaking of the Steam server(s).
