Hows it going moonquake? I know your very talented ive tried to follow your work in the HL community because your so good. Let us know more about testing and stuff, i would be glad to help out again like with revolters, especially with that promo video we made. Thinking the same again, prior to launch? Anyway good luck with it, keep me/everyone posted.
 
how are the rooms done? Is it like the Prey E3 vid where u can fight ppl through portals or is it just like u warp places?

I'm interested how u plan on doing the corridoor with the 100's of doors, also how u plan on keeping it all smooth so that it is actually playable on CS and not just a bunch of random rooms considering most of the good CS maps have usually only a few real choke points. Anyway I'll take a look when it's out, it does look incredibly nice I must say
 
Yes, MQ is kicking some ass.
PS I'm sure if you email or something and ask to use some of their sounds for a map your making for a video game, you can get a straight yes/no answer from them. They probably will let you use some. It would be good standing with the community for them if they did, and I'm sure they don't wanna mess TOO much up ;)

Hectic Glenn: yeah, kudos to you for the nice moves in the Revolters movie! :) I don't know if I'll make a video for this map too, it's a lot of work and the map itself is taking all my time! :) Glad you're interested in my work and, well, I hope you'll like this map as much as you liked Revolters!

Smigit: the way it is, you'll sometimes use teleporters (phones) for faster access to some rooms. For smoothness and choke points, they're there but you guys will tell me if it works as well as planned once you play the map!

Cyberpitz: Good thing you're optimistic, but big companies like that simply never let you use their stuff for free! I might try to incorporate some VERY largely used matrix sounds, but that's if I find some decent ones. :) But it's not priority 1 for BETA, it's the kinda stuff you add later.

Hey MoonQuake. Love to see the map uppdate. Have you looked into weapon_strippers for things like the Dojo or the 1on1 Duel area, for say, knife-only fights there or something? Like the others said, not a lot of cover in the dojo, so how about you make it Knives only and low-grav? It's all possible.
 
Wow, I thought this one would be another dodjy Matrix job, but you can tell these maps look really professional! Great work!
 
dekstar: well, in CS:S, people PAY for their guns. I don't want to strip them naked just for the sake of knife duels. They can always just ask the other "knife fight?" like we use to do! The Dojo as his own gameplay style, low grav is there yes, but all weapons allowed!

Sorry if this has been said before (just skimmed) but I really really love how you got the lighting to match the greenish tone of the movies. Great work!
 
I first tought it was tinted green all long but some scenes are tinted grey/blue, some others don't have tints...etc.... I pay attention to such little details.

Hehe, When you release the FULL map I'm gonna send it too this guy, he needs some good custom maps, and I know hes gonna LOVE this one. Will the Beta be the same as the full map, or is the full map gonna have more stuff added? Please PM me the map, as I might forget about this thread
 
I hope you get a playable frames-per-sec with this map. If you do, I'll badger the HL2.net clan to put it on their server if they don't do it soon :D

Fuse: betas will be close to final. My prediction is that there will be a few betas before final is released.

Dinkle: it's the same law for all the new games: the newer, the better looking. It comes with a price though: performance. I'll do my best to make it look nice and smooth.

UnkillableDot: I made a whole mod by myself for BF1942 because it was scripting, HL2 requires C programming skills which I don't have and for now, I don't have the time to make a mod. But I'd like to for sure! :)

wilka: nobody played this map. People are speculating based on the screenshots. Did you see the newest screens?

small idea: you know how in the movie, neo sees a 'deja vu' with a cat, and then the door is sealed off because 'they' changed something? How about doing something like cs_havanna different rooms and/or passages are available on different rounds? you could maybe even add the cat? or a cat sound?

3 out of 4 of your suggestions are being worked on or have been included already. :) I can't say more for the moment other than: such small ideas come from great minds! ;)

Moonquake, any chance of using a render-to-texture map instead of a cubemap for the reflections in the lobby?

I try to update you guys when I got something interesting to say! :) I'm almost done making each and every room and all the connections between them and... the proping and garnishing.

BOTS: I think I'll release BETA before the whole bot pathing thing. I'm pretty sure bots will get lost in The Matrix and fixing this would take me a lot of time. I doubt bots will be able to take elevators and superjump properly... if people stress me I'll take action and attack bot pathing but I'm not so familiar so I'd have to learn about it first. All this would give the players is that each room would have its proper name next to player messages. Other than that, pathing helps bots, not humans! :)

I know before someone mentioned you losing your weapons when you enter the dojo, but how about you're just stripped of them as soon as you walk onto the floormat, and your weapons stay sitting at the edge of the arena. That way there could be fun twists to the fighting there. Like, you'd be having a friendly knife fight when all of a sudden some dude runs in guns blazing, so both you and your knifing opponent go for your guns.

I mean, I doubt the map will be played very competitively, but more for having fun.

No :) I don't know the required terminology obviously, but using a shader similar to the one used for water in games like HL2 or FarCry to give real-time reflection and refraction. It looks nicer as the reflections are accurate.

Well that'd be too demanding for the computers. Especially a room like the lobby where there's a lot of reflections. That's why cubemaps are used because we don't have the computing power yet to render real mirrors effects on many walls at a time.

Malfunction: I understand. Sounds cool but there are problems with people not inside the dojo being able to use their guns. I don't know if you can just disable some guns when entering a given zone then enable them once you exit. I don't think you can do that.

The lobby looks outstanding, like the specialists only much better (shame you can't do specialist's style stunts in it :p)
 
I've been on vacations in Italy for 2 weeks and this map still isn't released? Argh, it's ready to give out as a beta I think from the screenshots.
 
I've been awat from counter strike for months as i got bit bored of it. But a random check back to this forum and this thread has relighntened my enthusiasm.

Gonna keep my eye on it, and crack out the old steam again.
