Just on the note of interpreting Scripture:
The laws of the Old Testament (INCLUDING THE BLESSINGS GIVEN TO ISRAEL) no longer apply. We are to follow the New Testament teaching.
The OT was basically to prove to humanity that we can't get to Heaven on our own.
