I've seen a lot of threads where people are going to upgrade their current computer or just build/buy a new one specifically for Half-Life2. I'm just curious what the specs of people's new systems are going to be.

Post your new comp's specs here! :)

or post them at the hardware forum :p

P4 3.2
1GB Corsair Twinx
120GB HD
Geforce FX 5900 ( next will be an ATI )

I spend nearly my whole first earned money, but I needed to upgrade anyway.

Or *cough*five*cough*

I know I must have my priorities messed up, but i don't now what I'm missing...

My main rig is a P4 2.4, 1024mb 2700 ddr, radeon 9800pro and the normal stuff.

MSI 865PE NEO (Intel® 865PE)
Intel® Pentium® 4 2.4GHz 800FSB Inc Hyper-Threading Technology
1GB PC2700 333DDR (2X512MB)
120GB Ultra DMA 100 7200rpm
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AGP8X 128MB DDR with TV-Out + DVI
Creative Sound Blaster® Audigy™ 2 6.1 Inc Firewire
3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Drive

Looks like you all have pretty mean machiens! Mines almost 2 years old and dating. Im only upgrading my video card to a radeon 9800.

My current snail is

XP2000+
512DDR
GF2 ti

So the radeon 9800 should make HL2 more than playable at a nice frame rate. The only reason im spending AUD$400 on the new card is because of HL2 and X2-THe Threat :)

You have 5 comps?

Gabe said we 1700+ XP users would be able to run it perfectly, so why update?

CPU Type----------------Intel Pentium 4HT, 2400 MHz Hyperthreading (Currently overclocked to 3Ghz)
Motherboard-------------Abit IC7(-G) (800mhz, FSB5 PCI, 1 8xAGP, 4 DIMM, Audio, IEEE-1394)
System Memory---------1024 MB Corsair (DDR SDRAM, Dual Channel)
Video Adapter-----------NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 (128 MB)
Monitor-------------------ViewSonic P95f+
Disk Drive---------------Western Digital WD1200BB-18CAA0 (120 Gig 8 Meg Buffer)

The Video card is my weak link at this point. I'll wait to see about the ATI/HL-2 bundle before I move to replace it.

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+, 2.16GHz
1024MB RAM
ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe (no sound card)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra (256MB)
SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD
120GB HDD

...that's my (new) system. Quite a change from my old 800MHz Celeron 128MB RAM including 16MB integrated GPU with 20GB HDD...

Athlon XP 2500+ @ 200mhz FSB x 10
1GB Corsair XMS 3200 @ 200mhz 2-2-2-5
Abit NF7-S rev2
SATA RAID0 Western Digital 36GB 10k RPM drives
Sapphire Radeon 9800 flashed to 9800 Pro
Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 22" CRT
Koolance Exos

Think that's the only interesting stuff. Most of the upgrades were bought for HL2 ;)
