US UN ambassador: conflict of interest?

I agree, we should have let Hitler overrun Europe long ago.

If you're going to cite an example from over 50 years ago and act as if the globe is indebted eternally to the United States, then (by that logic) we should still be hating Germany with a fervent passion.

Hitler was actually being over run by the Soviet Union when the US entered the war They suffered casualties of some 13 million. The United Kingdom stood alone against the Nazi’s for years before the US entered the war. The UK had total casualties of 450 thousand.
The US entered the war because of a sneak attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese, not to save Europe from the Nazis

Either way, had we not gone over there and helped out our allies, people over there would be speaking German or Russian.

Hitler decleared war on the US, not the other way around.

On topic:

The United Nations is fundamentally flawed - every country is just there to grab what they want from others.

This is no different.

In regards to corruption in the UN, France and Russia taking money from Iraq's oil for food programme..

Every country is as guilty as the next

And people - stay civil. Politics is an ugly topic, and you may get worked up, but there is no need for insults on either side :)

No it was not. The Soviet Union kept having conferences demanding the allies create a second front in the West. At the time the US was entering the war, the USSR was getting hammered by Germany. German troops were a few hundred miles outside Moscow, but were stuck or retreating.

If the USA had not entered the war and Western Europe, even if the Russians had won - they would have taken over the West as well so the whole of Europe was under the iron curtain instead of just the East.

They suffered casualties of some 13 million. The United Kingdom stood alone against the Nazi’s for years before the US entered the war. The UK had total casualties of 450 thousand.

'Years' being from about October 1939 to Dec 1941. And standing alone or not, they could not have taken Europe back by themselves.

The US entered the war because of a sneak attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese, not to save Europe from the Nazi

No - they entered the war because Hitler declared war on the USA after the attack on Pearl Harbour.

Thank you for the corrections.
6 December 1941,
(till 31 January). Soviet troops counter-attack at the whole front. Radio Moskow: Moskow would be defend till the last man died.
7 December 1941,
Japanese aircraft launch a surprise attack on American naval forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Imperial Government of Japan declares war to Britain, Canada, Australia and the United States. Losses United States: 8 American battleships, 3 Cruisers and 3 Destroyers destroyed; 2344 killed, 876 wounded, 966 missing. 1 O'clock: Koeroesoe and Nomoera ask for a conversation with Cordell Hull.
8 December 1941,
The United States declares war on Japan, US finds itself at war with both Japan and Germany. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill informs the British parliament that Britain is at war with Japan.
11 December 1941,
Germany and Italy declare war on the United States and sign new military alliance with Japan
13 December 1941,
Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania declare war on the United States

The reason Hitler declared war on the US was because the US declared war on Japan after Pearl harbour. At the same time the Soviets were launching a massive counter attack.
You are correct the UK and the commonwealth would never have taken Europe back by themselves, my point was the US alone wasn't unilaterally responsible for the downfall of Hitler.
Off topic ....sorry.
