When I call myself "liberal", I mean it in the original sense. That is, the German word "liberal", which translates literally into "open mind". That, I believe, is the core of liberalism- openmindedness.

No one else uses it that way in politics though. It's like the swastika. No one's going to know the real reason you're using it, its definition has changed with time.

Correction: annoying or stupid people don't use it in that way. There is a difference between 'left-wing' and 'liberal' and as far as I can see half of the American political community would do well to wake the **** up about that. D:

Liberal = open-minded, freedom-loving, etc. There are many people who still define the term this way.

EVERYONE is liberal then except for very few people. And most 'liberal' parties don't represent those things listed above at least in their entirety. EVERY party claims to support the above, whether they do or not is one thing.

In the old French system of liberal/conservative everybody today would've been liberal, even the conservative parties of today. It's just that the definition has changed.

Is this a discussion of the movie or the politics involved therein?

Either way, movie looks good, even if its a little heavy-handed like most of these types of films. Should open a few eyes though hopefully.

maybe in some deluded bizarro world ...look I dont know the specifics on things in SK but generally liberalism is not synomynous with violence. Also have you ever stopped to consider that they may be anti-government because there's something very wrong with the way your government runs things? I mean it does sound totalitarian ...so they could fighting that in order to bring about real democracy ...so they can almost be said to be ...heroes :E

The current administration is doing everything wrong. They're trying to have the Unions in more power and tax people more so that they can give it to the poor, while also damaging our economy. They're not doing too much damage, thankfully, because the citizens tried to impeach the pres becasue he was stupid. However, the guys that protest love it.

Sure, we have signs that say: "Protecting Freedom and national Security, call 113 to report spies. 100 million won ($100,000) reward for information." and "Security is Power" and the famous "Watch out for liberal criminals disguised as democracy supporters and report them to police." However, that doesn't mean it's not a democray, it's that most of the people who vote want security.
