Ut2004

This thursday acording to the Atari forums.

Yeah, ~50 hours maximum, Thursday is looking most likely though.

Sounds like most people will be willing to try out UT2004 even if they didn't like 2003. That's always good to know. This demo better be good, or I think the game will go dead far too quickly.

I just found these:
Operating System: Windows® 98/Me/2000/XP
Processor: Pentium® III or AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz processor or faster (1.5 GHz or faster processor recommended)
Memory: 128 MB RAM minimum (256 MB recommended)
Hard Disk Space: 3.5 GB free
Video: Any Windows-compatible video card(NVIDIA GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon with at least 64 megs of video memory recommended.)
Sound: Windows®-compatible sound card.
NVIDIA® nForce(tm) or other motherboards/soundcards containing the Dolby® Digital Interactive Content Encoder required for Dolby Digital audio.
DirectX®: DirectX® version 8.1(included)or higher
Multiplayer: Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP)play supported. 33.6K baud modem or broadband Internet connection recommended.

Oh yeah baby!!! Have a gander at these suckers:

A lot of the devs are saying that ut2k3 was a tech break through for the engine, siince then, they can focus on making the game more true to its roots. UT2k4 is supposed to fix what 2k3 screwed up, and keep what 2k3 did right as well.... I dunno, i love 2k3, loads of fun, I think people need to just get over it and enjoy the game for what it is, not what it was. Either way, i'm sure 2k4 will rock!

The game's actually around 5.5 Gigs, for anyone that was wondering. Hefty stuff, but it just shows the sheer amount of content there must be :D

Okay, so, the demo's being released in about 3 hours now. Should be great! :D

This just in:

[19:10:31] * nVo`ut|Shazz changes topic to ' UT2004 demo is downloadable in 3 hours !!'

demo will be about 200 meg large, and it will be a bitt torrent release.

Will there ever be a non-bittorent release? I don't have BitTorrent.

I'm sure large file-hosting sites will have it quickly after it's released, some probably bang on time as an alternative to BitTorrent.

What are the specs? Aren't the downloads like 34 kb anyway?

This reminds me of the Far Cry demo. All the pressing of F5!
EDIT: 10 bucks it's being uploaded now. The download site is slow at unrealtournament.com. I can't wait! \o/

Ohhh...those screens look nice!
/me runs of to download BitTorrent.

Are you talking about BT? BT has you download a small torrent file first. This torrent fle contains information about the download, but not the actual download itself. You open the torrent file with the client of your choice, and off you go, downloading from other BT peers and seeds, as well as uploading iwhatever data you have to others. The speed of a download dependes on the number of people downloading and therefore uploading (which in this case will be big). In the case of BT, more users downloading the file = good. In normal DL techniques, more users downloading the file = bad.

The demo includes five playable game modes, including Unreal Tournament 2004’s two new game modes: Onslaught mode, a team-based challenge that features two teams using air and land vehicles to overrun each other's frontlines, and a completely redesigned assault mode, where gamers are challenged to attack or defend bases.

Here some more information: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/ut2004/news_6089215.html

What BT client is everybody using? I used to have Shadow's Experimental BT, but I deleted it for a month or two ago and just downloaded the 'regular' one.

Im using azureus. Imo thats the best one, i've tested a few.

I was just wondering, was it ever reveald if and how people with a copy of UT2003 would get a rebate?

I need a deceant bittorent client for windows as well, I only have one for Linux.

EDIT: heh azureus is the one I'm useing in Linux, might aswell just get that one.

Imo azureus is better since you can download multiple files in one window, plus it shows you more info and has more settings.

12 noon PST? 3 PM EST? Great! I will be on my way home when it comes out. I will have to wait in immense lines!

LOL, not if you use BT. Anyway around 40 minutes left now.
