This post might be a little premature, since we haven't even played Half-Life 2 yet, but I don't care.

After reading the Final Hours of Half-Life 2, I feel such an outpouring of emotion for our beloved Valve Software. They're such dedicated people, and it's really beautiful how in touch they are with we maniacally obsessed community members.

I love you, everyone at Valve, good job finishing Half-Life 2, and have a nice rest. You deserve it.

I agree. :)

Was a supprisingly touching read... They sure did go through alot to get where they are now. :)

Yeah, Valve is really unique.
And Gabe is really a nice guy.

Thanks for all guys.

It seemed like a very well played pity card though...

Nevertheless, I have never doubted Valve over the past year and a half. I have stuck with them the whole way. Never hated Valve, even after all the excuses and lies.

Crazy people and their negativity over a damn game..:rolling:

edit: I <3 VALVE!

shh... it's not a "damn game"... it's like the center of my universe.

I couldnt agree with you more. The whole article was basically "Pitty Valve". Yes, I am happy they are releasing the game. Still doesnt justify them lieing to us.

Bravo Audiophile! Well done! Made me want to email Gabe and the team to say thanks, only I don't know the email. But whatever. They probably read this stuff anyway.

Cheers all.

I also agree.

It's clear that we need more game developers with Valve's mentality towards the creative process.

Id be alot happier if they would just release the game over steam like they said they would. Unless thats another lie.

it makes me think that they learned their lessons and won't make those mistakes again, and for that I'm greatful

OMG <3 2VALVE

What a great read, all the wait, just 3 days to go - so much emotion.. Thnx Valve ! <3 :smoking:

Well, if I ever were going into the gamedevelopment industry then Valve would be a really great place... Altough are there any hot girls working there? =)

If not, maybe they could hire some for ambiance? :afro:

I think anyone who played the illegal beta will feel really bad after reading that (even worse than they should) Valve put more time than we can amagine in on this game, and it will all be worth it. Good job guys :)

I also agree totally.... what a fantastic piece of journalism by gamespot :)

Amazing to read what the team have been through... as much as they (VALVe) have been through their up's and down's with the fans over the development of HL2 one only needs to look at their dedication to the fans and the company philosophy to giving the fans what they want to realise that the company (VALVe) and the management behind it really are few and far between in comparison to other companies out there. If only other companies put as much effort in to pleasing the fans as VALVe I'm sure we would see many more quality games hitting the shelves.... I mean come on they have released (or soon to release :p ) 2 games both of which will or to all intents and purposes will be SMASH HITS!!!. The only other dev house to do that IMHO is ID and I must admit that Doom3 for me personally was a BIG dissapointment. To much of a tech demo for me .. but we wont go there :p

Anyway really enjoyed the article hope someone at VALVe is reading these posts to see how much they ARE appreciated :)

Budgie55 (Allan)

I wish them every success with their hard work over the last 5
years!.

..edit ... just looked at when I reg'd on these forums back in July 2003 and reading that article made me stop and think how quick time goes by.... doesnt seem 2 minutes since I joined up on here back in 2003 because of all the hype surrounding the game going gold (hehe) and then closely followed by the source leak etc my doesn't time fly! :/

i'm assuming you mean release it now since the street date is broken?
it's another lie. that's why they have game stores sending out requests to get their games back. that was one thing that annoyed me about the article, gabe is like "i'm so sorry i lied to the fans last year, it made me feel so miserable, but ironically i felt the need to lie to them again a day before this article is published."

/me gets all teary eyed

WE LOVE YOU VALVE! ;)

btw, that was a great read. I can't wair to read Raising the Bar, though! w00t

That was one hell of an article. Big and juicy with info. Loved every bit.

Made my hype for this game even greater, and my love of Valve increased 2 fold.

Thankyou Valve, we love you!!!

The gamespot article borders on pro-Valve propaganda, but it worked really well. I felt like I had just read a really satisfying book, full of cool behind the scenes details and an emotional catharsis.

Nice job, Valve!

I agree,

I <3 Valve

I always have, but ya know, if I ever had the great good fortune to get a chance to work there I dont think id even think twice

I never doubted them, but it is nice to know that so much work went into this game, and its for us.... I really do love them...
*insert Gabe's cock here -> :D *

Good Job Valve!
And Gabe, gotta shape up for the release of HL3, so get to it buddy

Valve must be so happy to have finally finished the game now. But I hope they finish CS: Source.

agreed on that as well.
i may get angry with the way things some times get handled but like a misguided child realizing whats important i can't help but love what Valve have done in an overall stand point.

as corny as it sounds, hes right. Thank you Valve.

/signed. i heart valve. gabe > bill gates.

teh gabe pwnz da guy hacker. its cool that gabe has the power to call the FBI and track this punk down. now that this story gave some personal anecdotes about gabe, hes actually a pretty funny guy.

why i think gabe is funny

"Then people started using the game to compose their own screenshots of Dr. Kleiner performing [oral sex] on Alyx. It's basically your worst nightmare." -Gabe Newell

"I'm getting on a plane and I'm bringing my crowbar with me."
