I still can't believe how people can play cs 1.6 when there is cs:s. That's like saying that a 14" black and white TV is better than a brand new 62" plasma.
 
Then again, you could also say that playing Source instead of 1.6 is like watching Everybody Loves Raymond when you have every episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD :p

I mean, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Source. I'm just saying that it's a matter of preference.

wtf is CS 1.6? Is that just regular old counter strike on the half-life engine? Or is it some ancient version that I'd have to search through pages and pages of archives to find?
 
It's just CS on the Half-Life engine.

Nothing else to it. Ignore what other people say as it is exactly the same as Source apart from it has bad animations and sound which seems to be louder then actually should be.

bunch of ingrates, and quit resorting to "i've played longer than you lolz". I played from version 1.3 to CS:S, after which I stopped because there were no interesting additions or changes. the same ****ing gameplay gets boring after a while

I have. I LAN with 1.6 at school and play CSS at home.

I like CSS a lot more. Why? Graphics! Yes, they DO matter. The graphics make CSS more satisfying to play, it's more satisfying to shoot stuff. It feels great to headshot someone and see his ragdoll collapse backwards. Bullet impacts look a lot better, making guns feel better. Sounds are better too. CSS just feels better to play.
 
I like CSS online better, simply because 1.6 is random as ****. 1.6 registers so badly online. One server, you can nail headshots all day long. Another server, and shit will go right through them. At least CSS is more consistent from server to server.

I like 1.6 on LAN, because it removes a lot of the randomness. It registers perfectly.

Just get decent servers. Set your rates properlly, its not hard.
 
1.6 and CSS are identical in every way. There is seriously no difference. They are the same game. I pwn 30 noobs at one and then switch to the other when they cease to amuse me.
They are identical in every possible way. The only difference is that smart people move on up to the better graphics, while fools insist that there is a difference and keep playing the version that's just about a decade old.
People who complain about CSS are just folks with inferior PCs blaming valve that their 1998 compaq can't handle upwards of one hundred polygons.
Sorry about the lag, cupcakes, but maybe it's time to buy a better computer?

You make me lol. While I don't think they are exactly the same, the minor differences are not excuse enough for cs players not to move up to the better graphics version pretty much the same game. Yes I played 1.6 for over a year. Hell the grenades are enough reason to play cs:s over 1.6.
 
Look up CSS on wikipedia and look under criticism, it basically says all that needs to be said on the subject at hand.......:LOL:

Seriously.

If it was the only game I had to play, then I would play it.

But if I had a choice I would always go for CSS.

CSS, looks better. No, I'm not a graphics whore, but I like the fact that the animations are perfect.

In 1.6, the animations are so retarded that it makes it difficult to aim.

I've played probably 30 minutes of 1.6 and that's it.

It's just, bleh.

The only reason it is still so popular is because of e-sports. Without e-sports, the game would be 2nd to CSS.

I honestly can not see any reason to play 1.6 over CSS apart from competitive gaming.

Are you shitting me? I've played 1.6 at the highest levels, and just about everyone agreed with me. 1.6 is random online.

I played Cal-P with e-police, placed 4th and 6th at CPL with u5 and shockwave. I know what I'm talking about.
 
i totally agree 1.6 is lots of fun on lan,but online its just stupid.
