Valve playing HL2 on steam!

It doesn't download anything. :p If you try to join, it just loads Half-Life and sits on "establishing connection to server".

hey sup2069, by the time they could make a HL 39, it will be about 100 of those 2 terrabyte hard drives.

Maybe testing CS: S?

The new CS: S maps probably aren't going to be "de_dust_cs: s"
 
so this is what we gathered.

Facts pointing out that it might be true:
1. 80 people server
2. tried to join but hl1 (won included) wont let us. if it was hl1 it would download the map or say you do not have the map, not stay trying to connect.

Facts pointing out it might be false:
1. scores not changing
2. Server is in france (which means they would have to give a dedicated server to some people in france which imo is kind of a waste of time)
3. Names spelled incorrectly
4. I have Erik added to my friends list of steam.. and his name is spelled correctly
5. Cliffe's also
6. Neither of them are being marked as playing on my friends list.

I'm stomped

If i missed something out tell me

There are two Eric's and an Erik at valve, at least one of the Eric's has reasons to be testing.

even if you had the leak, it wouldnt work. theres no way to Join, if this is true you would need the copy of HL2 that Eric is using, to even try :p.

and also the time played isnt changing, which i dont know what that means

LMAO at the pic, Ok guys this is how we connect, we go to the seven and a half floor of the merton flemmer building in new york and move a filing cabinet to one side, and crawl through the tunnel behind it!
 
If you guys tried to connect, check out your Half-Life steam folder

there will be afolder called "hl2" in there LOL
 
I believe steam automaticly tries half-life when its an unknown game, and half-life will automaticly create a mod folder and config when its an unknown mod.
 
I personally dont see what all the hype is about. Its simply VAVLe just testing some of HL2 maps on Steam see how they act with more than one client playing at a time.
 
Well, theve gotta leave that game some time today, so then well know if its real.

Well vivendi is also in france, and judging on the dns name, it could look like a hosting service.

Its in france.
Why would VUG host the server? and in france? when they have HQs in America? Why would they host them anyway, what about SpeakEasy and er, Valve?

Playernames.

There is someone called Eric and Erik at Valve, so, ?
HellRaiser. Can you really see someone at VAVLe naming themselves that? Sounds like some 12 year old punk downloaded it and is having fun ;)

Duracell my best guess is that if it is true the HeLLrAsEr kid IS really 12 years old and he's testing out HL2 with them.

Time all at 0s, maybe a new HLTV thing?
 
it seems that they added monsters to it, so maybe co-op?

also, the reason they may not be getting more frags is possibly that they entered game, and left their computers to test stability over time.

sv_allowmonsters is enabled, so my guess is coop. still not 100% sure tho.. but its starting to point to true..

ps: this isnt really an utter waste of time.. since this would mean there is hl2 coop .. (i have no doubt hl2 will have multiplayer but coop would be sweet :) )
 
also, using hlsw to read an hl2 server and trying to get hl CVARs would lead to a messed up product
