depth of field going on there?
Bear in mind that that picture is probably just a promotional render, and not necessarily an ingame shot.
Fixed.I know it's been said a bazzilion times but great characters!
I'm so bored of all the "realism" look you get with 95% of your PC games nowadays, alone the screenie is a breath of fresh air.

Sure is a shame that Valve would mess around with an already winning formula. It's also a shame that they would turn their backs to the few remaining of us TFC players to change it to whatever the hell crap this is. You're getting a big *UCK YOU VALVE from me.
dont even bother replying to this post peoples i'm not looking for your opinion on my post.
Ingame perhaps not, but definitely rendered by the engine. Look closely at the screenshot, you can clearly see the classic overlapping shadows darkening eachother. I think only the DoF won't be present seeing as it very demanding on your PC and perhaps annoying with blurred distances (you can't really determine what the player is actually looking at and what should and shouldn't be in focus).

Sony must of thrown a tonne of money at Valve in order to convince them to program for the PS3, a good year or so ago Gabe went on record during a 1UP interview and pretty much categorically stated that Valve had little interest in programming for either the 360 or PS3 because of the inherent programming issues involved. Recanting on the 360 I can understand because it's using DirectX, but PS3 with it's cell processors.....another kettle of fish
clearly your just getting upset over nothing. You dont even know what they changed (made obvious by you saying "change it to whaver the hell crap this is") ... so obviously you dont know what kind of game it is. Who knows, maybe if you get out of your ignorant mindset you may like it.
So everyone must agree to your views, then?
A winning formula? Last time I checked, TFC was all but dead. I wouldnt call that a 'winning formula'. And dont lump me in, as an avid fortress gamer, with you - I LOVE this new direction, and am absolutely looking forward to it.
The fact is that fortress games have always taken themselves too seriously in the art department - and it makes more sense having one of these more comical characters firing a rocket at their feet and flying through the air, than it does to have some ultra serious looking soldier model.
Oh, okay. So you just bash our opinionNope, i just simply wanted to express my opinion on the matter and avoid any of this crap you people are posting.
Don't know about that one, ask what the hell they've been doing for the past seven yearsWell let me tell you about a game I had last night. (NOTE: I said LAST NIGHT because I'M still a consistant TFC player unlike alot of you) Anyways the map was Well, our team had 3 medics (not including me) and several soldiers. The soldiers all worked together to defend the flag while the 4 of us (being the medics) used concs to strategically evade the enemy while riding explosions to the flag room. Some of us would grab the enemies attention while the other would snag the flag and run back to base. THAT is a winning formula, it may not be popular with the white-wash CS gaming out there but when its actually played the way its supposed to be then you really can begin to understand. Also you make a somewhat good point about the artstyle but even you being a fortress player would know there are 2 versions of the skins. One a more serious and one a little more simplistic. My question is why make it even more simplistic to the point of it being cartoony? and why the hell wouldn't they offer TWO VERSIONS.
Apparently, it is in-game and the shadows are real-time, so they've fixed at least one part of the dynamic lighting.
Oh know the graphics are cartoony...oh no that will simply ruin the gameplay. I guess the world is no longer with living in.My question is why make it even more simplistic to the point of it being cartoony?

Hey moron, if you can't tell from my last two posts i'm used to the same ole same ole. I'm pissed that valve would screw over the last remaining fans just to spice it up for complete idiots who don't know how to appreciate an already good game. Why can't you drill that in your head?
