:bonce: HIS FACE

mauahah  GOOD JOB.

haha wow :E
i went over to the Steam forums and read some of those posts.. it was teh funneh
anyway, like most of u, i too am happy about this crackdown and hopefully this will put a scare into some of the hackers out there...

one common hack i have seen lately is the one where the player uses the knife attack and with one swing of the knife, he travels quite a ways. i hope Valve addresses this as well
good stuff Valve

You can change an IP address though, can't you? I think mine changes every month or so.

Going off on a tangent, I suspect there are plenty of hypocrites posting here. I very much doubt many people don't have at least some pirated software/music/films on their computers.

"Valve 1 - 0 pirates"

Doesnt it stand 1 - 1? Cuz the pirates had their games for free until now.

Probably banned their IP addresses.

Dynamic IPs ? I know many clans they are using hacks to cheat and sometimes Steam spot their scripts and ban their Steam accounts, but the same clans been playing for months now with steam access.

The way is, no just Dynamic IPs, but they have tools, you can download it off their sites, which has a powerfull script invented by 13 craking clans, The Option called AntiBan & AntiKik.........and it works perfectly for the AntiKik, whereas AB need to be updated with every steam update.

I ve been using the AntiKik option since 2 months now, and no server until this sec has kikd me out. [I don't cheat but I use Antikik only tool] :)

To Sum up, Valve can spot 5% only from a big number of Steam's Hackers. :(

No, it was just accounts. The hole has been fixed now so they can't reoffend. :)

Haha I love it when warez kiddies get caught, they always try and blame the company for having security flaws, or say the game is to expensive or somthing like that, its really quite sad, and its so easy to get a HL1 cd key these days, a copy of Gunman Chronicles off play.com for 4.99, will allow u to unlock HL1, tfc, cs, dod, op force, dmc etc.

Obviously this is mostly an issue with CZ, but why risk being IP banned for a few extra weeks on the beta, (which is most likely why they did it) idiots.

They ban steam ID's I believe. One of the valve guys posted it in that thread I think.

Much fun, glad they are doing something about this stuff.

I'm on it :D
Pretty impossible to convert that to a spray tbh...

The dimensions would be all messed up.

I know this person :) he dont dont whats up, he says he doesnt hacked or stuff.. (maybe his acc. was hacked)

But innocent people sometimes also get their CD keys blocked. It happened to my brother. He has a 100% legal copy of CS CZ. When he tried to register it via Steam he got a message that the CD allready was used. He did like Valve said and sent them the original CD key (by post) two months ago, but Valve still hasn´t contacted him. He then sent a mail to Sierra abut the problem, and explained that he sent the original CD key to Valve. Sierra didn´t answer either. To be able to download CS Source he had to buy an other copy off CS CZ!

Thats becuase someone used a keygen, I'm afraid ;(

Yeah we guessed that too. But he did send the original CD key to Valve by ordinary mail, not a photocopy, so Valve should have been able to solve the problem. As I wrote he did send the CD key two months ago.

Phone Vivendi and explain. They have given out new keys in the past when people have done that.

Valve handed out some ownage, its nice to see.. heh...

I bought my CZ key off eBay so it could have been generated dodgily (I didn't realise it was possible to get hold of a key dodgily) so I think I may be vulnerable to get my account shut down :(

I did too, but it's legit because I'm not shut down. :)

How about releasing Half Life 2.

why is my text sooo :monkee: big

I agree with you alphy  . My goodness I will go back into my flaming spamming mode if I don't get any HL2 news soon!!

ahhhh. just read the first post, and much of the thread on steampowered. my brain is releasing happy pills at an alarming rate :D

Um, laugh all you want but it's not funny in the slightest.

Sure, at first glance it all looks perfume and roses. But really it's a big pile of crap. You start banning people like this and eventually you'll ban someone innocent. Like someone who bought their CD from the shop but had their key stolen.

Congratulations for Valve possibly. But not for us. At the end of the day Valve are biiig, they have plenty money and they can use it to get a point across. Us mere consumers cannot. If we get a dodgy CD and an unsympathetic Valve then we have no choice but to go buy a new one. And unlike Valve, we don't have plenty money.

How about changing the score :

Bare in mind it looks as though they've only disabled accounts that have collectively had wrong or multiple CD-keys entered and fake credit card details.

I think some of you are over reacting in the sense that Valve aren't all of a sudden going to ban your account because someone else has nicked your CD-key or because you enter it wrong. They'll instead look for this as evidence of people that may have been trying to crack the game, but will also gain more evidence from other happenings on the account (e.g. wrong CC, different CCs, different CD-keys etc.)
