Anyone else think this game really sucks? I just found out my little brother has had this game for a year, and I have never really played it so I decided to try it out. The camera angels SUCK, you can never really look where you want to and you can only aim with SOME of the guns. Also, everything is so slow I feel like it is an RPG. If I want to kill some guy I am chasing on my motorcyle I have to stop, get off, stop, aim, and then I can shoot but by then he is gone and some asshole cop is banging me in the ass with his baton. Oh and then the game froze when I tried to kill myself, most over rated game ever.

I don't think I could disagree any more.

This game ****in' rocked. You must've played it on the PS2.

Some weapons allow you to aim while riding on the motorcycle instead of having to get off and aim and shoot. But remember, this is like a living, breathing real world. For, almost, every action there is a consequence.

Also, it is so ****ing annoying having to repeat the ENTIRE mission every time you fail. Every time I fail a mission I have to go and kill myself, take a taxi and then I can restart from the very begining.

Why not load your saved game once you fail a mission instead of having to kill yourself or take a taxi? It's much easier-you keep all your weapons and health, and it doesn't show up on your stats screen.
I think you just need to spend a little more time playing the game and getting to know it. It really has a great story and an open-ended experience.

I am playing it on the xbox...I don't think you can do that on any console.

Its a brilliant game once you progress. I have it on ps2, i dunno if pc is much different, but once you have your mansion and all hidden packages, you get the helicopters in your mansion and the apache helicopter. Its an EXCELLENT game, the best GTA there is. San Andreas i found was too open, and boring with little added extras. Graphics are really pushed as well. Vice City seemed to be the best game fitting that engine, its a classic. Finish some more missions and you'll find all the quality things available to you. Have you done any bike stunts yet? Like flips and stuff, awesome! sorry i just have alot of passion for it.

I thought that you could just go back to the mission starting point (one of the buildings on your radar) instead of killing yourself. And if you didn't have to repeat the entire mission everytime you failed, then it would be too easy.

Oh yeah, the PC game is better.

Oh goody! You're playing it on the Xbox. Good to hear.

And what do you mean by 'I don't think you can do that on any console'? Of course you can load your saved game at any time.

There are only 2 options, new game and load game, so to save the game I think I have to go to that hotel...

Oh. Right. You'll have to save your game before you go on a mission (wherever that may be). Then, if you fail that mission, you can just load the previous save. No need to continue from the hospital.

You can discover save points all around, for your convenience, that are much closer to your mission.

That's right. I forgot that you can buy real estate and then save there.

See, the game isn't that bad, it's quite good.

Its not made for pc, and so I found it pretty bad to play on pc. However, on XBOX this game rocks! I wish you could go back and do whatever missions you wanted once you're finished though.

The most annoying thing about console ports is the lack of a quick save. The only other thing that pissed me off about (the PC version of) Vice City was shooting someone with a long gun. If he ran up to you with a bat he just starts hitting you and you cant shoot him cause the front of your gun pokes through his head, so none of the bullets register on him. So you try and back off but by the time your character stops and lets you shoot the c*nts right up in your face again, pounding you with a bat.

Vice City - awesome. The missions really arn't that hard anyway, I can think of numerous games that make you repeat the entire level.

Yeah me too. PC version is where its at though.

I really hope they fix up the damn combat system though. I hate having to stand still and shoot. I'd rather be able to run and shoot inaccurately then stand still.

yes you can do that too.

i echo other peoples comments, i loved it, it was a million times better than gta3 which i didnt think was all that great, didnt even finish it. i loved buying the property and stuff, the 80s setting was great too, i used to just do the taxi missions for hours driving people around listening to the chat stations. then i unlocked the super taxi or watever its called.

i hope sa is a much fun. :)

Vice City on the PC is very fun.
A huge assortment of weapons and vehicles.
Great story and graphics.
The ability to add your own radio station with your own songs.
And the multiplayer is really cool too, going on stunt servers is awesome.

My one gripe with the series are the god-awful graphics. I know they can't make them too good because then we would have very limited playing areas, but I would much prefer regular loading times and have better graphics. Kind of like Half Life 2 where you hardly notice the transition between areas.

gta has mp on pc???????? sh*t i cant wait for sa now.

is it any good? i presume sa will have it too.

It's quite laggy, but hella fun nonetheless. Grabbing a bike and working together in bike gangs is one of the best expiriences I have ever had on VC.

SA will probably have it a few months after launch. It takes them a little while to set it up.

what is it like team deathmatch or what?

Kind of. You choose your "faction" everytime you respawn, and they allow you different types of gun and different spawn points. But you can kill whoever. There is no scoring system in place yet. You can choose to band together with people though. When you get an organised raid going with a good ping it's fantastic fun.

cool, an organised raid against other factions n stuff?

Wha?! Do you have 50,000rpm hard drive and 5gig or RAM or something? Level transitions normally take at least 15-20 seconds for most people...

Yep, it is great fun. And when you can pick up Vice City for 9 quid in the UK, it is well worth it.

No, they do take about that long, but they are so beautifully interwoven, that they are never an annoyance. Atleast, not to me.

Alot of people call them awful, but come on, they arn't really that bad. Yeah they are nothing special but they are not as bad as people make out.

GTA's graphics aren't the best and aren't the worst.
They're good enough for me to play without turning it off in disgust.

I've got Vice City on the Xbox and I love it to bits - the soundtrack tunes (radio stations) are awesome, not to mention the choppers... The only complaint I have is that some of the missions are a bit hard (or i've been doing them wrong).

I dislike the player models. They always look very awkward....Goldeneye-esque.

But, I guess they aren't too bad. I just wish game developers would learn that if they are going to port the game to PC, they should make it on the PC and port it back to consoles. Better graphics all round.

Quick question: Does San Andreas have ragdolls? I haven't played it yet. I restrain myself so the PC version makes it all good.

GTA:VC was awesome!
Playing it on the PS2 is always nice, since it comes out for it first. But I really perfer the PC version just because you can get into the car handling files and really mess with the settings. Just look at this file and notice all the settings you can change and imagine the chaos.

And the best part about it was just driving around listening to the radio, kill some guys, rob a joint while racking up stars and then run from the cops. :naughty:

No ragdolls. ;(

GTA - Often imitated, never duplicated.

Looking forward to the nextgen incarnation of this series.

I am going back to my original statement, this is the most over rated game ever. It sucks, it is just simply a terrible game. Poor graphics, terrible voices, bad sound effects, aweful controls (the worst I have used since the N64) and the camera is terrible. Also, the missions are never any fun to do because there is always only one way to do them, and to find that way you have to do it several times which ends up taking a couple hours from having to drive around.

I think you're kind of missing the point, Foxtrot... treat the game as a 'sandbox' - you don't have to follow the missions if you don't want to, but it's rewarding to do so because you'll get more vehicles and weapons. If you want you can just cruise around causing chaos and evading the cops - that's a laugh in itself... there's just so many things you can do... but I guess having a full simulated town to drive around isn't gonna be fun for everyone...
