Vice Presidential Debate

I dont think I can count the number of times liberlas have had no arguement againts bush except.. "uhh..well...bush stutters!! HAR HEEHEHEHE!!"

Do I make such arguments? No. In fact I've defended the intelligence of both men in the past.

Liberals :: Edwards won.
Conservatives :: Cheney won.

Me :: Eh. Cards won today.

I gotta give it to Cheney and his ability to maintain a straight face through some of his answers. Edwards being a seasoned trial lawyer was persuasive by asking all the right questions that led to a few uncomfortable answers

That said, why exactly is it surprising for me to say that?
You've never said it in defense of me or any other conservative in any debate on this board that I can recall, and it has happened many times.

I was specifically talking about the candidates and how such attacks on each other can make the issues more difficult to understand.

As for this board, I try to refrain from making personal attacks on any members in political discussions. Beyond that I let people defend themselves. I don't remember having said that in defense of a liberal on here either.

I don't really see what me being a liberal has to do with it. Being liberal means I have certain views on some issues, it has nothing to do with how I conduct myself personally or how I argue politics.

But anyway, I'm waiting to see how the polls go on this debate. :)

Well - I need to go get some vittles.

Boring debate tonight. I would see you all on friday but I have to work and can't watch the debates. I tried to get off so I could go to the debates (b/c they are in STL) but to no success.

Just thought it was funny coming from a liberal, we'll just leave it at that.

everyone loves me gh0st.. everyone..

thats nothing, my lightsaber-wielding crusader pheonix would own that nub

Hi. You did a rebirth? Isn't that for those insane, whacko people who have strange fetishes?

I personally think Cheney won that debate. Granted, a republican view will put our republican bias, but hey, not much I can do on that. I tried to remain as neutral as I could.. but, yeah.
My personal feeling was Edwards was hiding behind Kerry a bit too much, he must've mentioned his name a 200 times. Twice while he wasn't allowed, too.

Just a personal opinion, obviously. :)

Edit: Just for my other feelings, I felt the first part of the presidential debate was a bit more of a tie. I was neutral on that. This debate seemed much more heated and entertaining, and hitting better issues.

Oh yea...well FAWKES you! :O

ah yet another thread successfully hijacked.. it's good to be me (i should know!). um, actually, i'm half-planning another dramatic exit. we'll see how i do with that. the last one was awesome.. with all those threads and banners and whatnot.. but no, nothing great has happened in my time away.. unless you count saving the whole world from peril as great!!!!

ok, no i didn't do that.. but if you count making minor strides in my personal growth!!! as "great", then i have in fact.. also.. not done much.. but i'm working on it. get off my back already!!

gh0st's picture is the best so far, but i need more entries.

Heh, Fox news quoted Cheney about "Factcheck.com" and even provided a link in the article: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134573,00.html

Oops. :)

i've always thought of msnbc as the most neutral of the news groups, and if this hasn't already been posted most people who visit the hardball section think that....

These are the only two online polls I can find so far:

Who won the VP debate?

MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/

Edwards: 71%
Cheney: 29%

CNN
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/

Edwards: 79%
Cheney: 16%
Tie: 4%

yeah, it's funny.. factcheck.com was getting hammered right after he said that, and factcheck.org got no business :(. maybe he did it on purpose though, as you can see what the top story on factcheck.org is ;)

http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=264

Heh, I hadn't seen that yet. Ya if I was him I don't know I would want everyone in the public going there right now.

Edit: 20 pages or so was enough for you huh? ;)

The funny thing I see with polls is that Online polls show dem. in better light while yet polls in papers show it differently. Polls online have a young majority who are more likely to be dem. yet everyone reads the paper. ;)

I meet many many people everyday who hardly use a computer let alone go online. These are middle aged to older people.

the ultimate test for edwards would be the fox news poll, if they ever put one up

I doubt when it comes down to it, that the "polls"( Virtually every TV news show on Saturday and Sunday touted a new poll from Newsweek which showed Kerry had pulled ahead of Bush by 47 to 45 percent, but FNC's Brit Hume pointed out Monday night that Newsweek's sample "turned out to be 36 percent Democrats, 34 percent Republicans" compared to "the previous Newsweek poll, which had 39 percent Republicans and only 30 percent Democrats," and which "gave the President an 11-point lead.") matter at all. It's what the american people think and more importantly, the thinking american. Why does his opinion matter more? Because he doesn't watch a debate to decide how to vote! Because he knows not only who he will vote for, he knows WHY.

Difference between Kerry and Bush fans is that on average, Kerry people don't like Kerry, they just don't like Bush. And they have reason, of course, because Kerry really hasn't done anything original in and of himself.. He's just got his Vietnam War experience, which is now believed by those who don't take every word of politicans to be gospel to be a shame to his name and should be something he avoids talking about. Ever wonder why he hasn't released his military records even though he has touted it in EVERY political race since 1972? I don't wonder, too much..

Enough. Cheney won hands down on actual, verifiable "facts" and that was enough to take away the sting of the other guy's rhetoric. I admire Cheney and want to be at least a bit more like him from now on.

True, and I fully realize that those polls are not scientific polls of public opinion.

However, there remains the fact that for the last debate they agreed with the final concensus.

anyone notice that factcheck.com was bought by George Soros?

Is there a depth to which this man might not sink?

Is anyone, looking for a "non-partisan" info source, going to think favorably of a man who took advantage of a widely televised mistake to promote a narrow minded and blindly partisan view? I don't see it making that much of a difference, George..

*Edited to add a new line for emphasis*

Why not do the right thing, and make the domain a redirect to the actual website?

Ouch.

I didn't know that. That only makes cheney's mistake even worse for him.

Amazing what a difference "com" and "org" can make.

what do you think about the last remark I had in the above quote? Should George do the right thing or is all fair in love and war? :)

Well, it was Cheney's mistake.

However, it was mostly likely an honest slip up that anyone could have made, so I think the right thing to do would be for the media to make sure to correct it and let the public know what the correct address is. Also, I've found atleast one article on Fox news that directly links to that site. That is not good policy in my opinion. They should have checked what site they were linking to before making a direct link in a front page article.
