View jerking when hit

Do you hate it when your view jerks around when a bullet hits you in an FPS.

Yes for the most part. If dont correctly. It also depends on the game.

But they do flinch.

I Freaking Rest My Case. Jerky-View is a must in any game.

Orly? How many times have you been shot? From all the footage ive seen of people getting shot, they dont spin around when a bullet hits them.

None.

Thanks to You-tube or others footage out there, you can see on the Net about others getting shot and, the aftermath reaction.
Imagine being that guy in the You-tube clip. Have you notice any jerky motion? He fell to the ground by the impact.

In real combat, there are no one-man armies like most FPS's.That's not very realistic either.:P FPS's are just what they are. Games. If they were really realistic, they wouldn't be any fun.(i.e. no checkpoints, saving, etc. and you only get one life) I wish I could restart my life from a previous save point, then you'd see more headlines like, "Naked man jumps off Empire State Building while singing, It's raining men. Tonight on Fox." It would be like Bill Murray's, "Ground Hog Day". As a whole though, view jerking doesn't bother me, all other things considering.

I like view swaying, it shows that the character I'm playing is alive rather than a brainless robot with 100% precise aim.

What if the games protagonist actually was a brainless robot with 100% precise aim?

What I find is that much as people make a fuss about game developers making games easier, they are simply responding to demand not creating the trend and this poll is one example of it - gamers who want things dumbed down for them to make things as simple as possible - fastest finger first, run-run-run, multiplayer that may as well be arena based singleplayer. For the rest of the minority who actually enjoy a challenge, that opportunity is being destroyed by the majority. And receiving no punishment for being shot ingame is sadly just the tip of the iceberg in terms of easy-mode game design these days :(
Tell me about it. All FPS noobs need to put up with the additional challenges or GTFO. I could care less about the casual gamer market and how they water every single game down with their "Easy" normal mode and their "Super Easy" noob mode so that I'm bored to tears just for their sake.plz Even HL2 suffered a bit from this noob syndrome. Even the normal mode seemed easy.:hmph:

New, imaginative enemies are challenges. Puzzles are challenges. Open area firefights with dozens of fast, smart, powerful enemies are challenges. A jerky camera is NOT a challenge - it's an annoyance. And I'm sorry that you're too HARDCOAR to see that. :frown:

If you like "difficult", frustrating gameplay, stick to playing Quake on Nightmare.

I reckon that your view shouldn't jerk when hit, but you become inaccurate if you try to fire, making it advisable to find cover to eh, recover

Ok, so maybe I was a bit harsh, but still, games these days just seem so easy compared to what they used to be, frustrating gameplay or not, it's the truth. though FPSs of today are good, they still lack the intelligence of a human opponent in a multiplayer match. Likewise, even the hardest of soldier or marine in real life is going to temporarily lose focus/aim if they get nailed by a .45 subthompson, if they even live to tell about it. I mean, come on, they're supposed to be human, not the terminator. Didn't you read what the guy above posted?

It just adds realism in my opinion. I'm not that hardcore either. If you want to know what hardcore really is, it's those dweebs that are too immature to even get up from their MMORPG session and take a leak in the proper place. Yeah, I actually know a few. It's really sad.

Project Reality has done getting hit perfectly. If you take a round, you vision goes all watery/blurry, pretty much impairing your vision and slowing you down considerably. Unless you find a medic or medical bandages soon your gonna die.

Works fantastically, although gets annoying if no one has any medical bandages due to them all using them because no one in the squad is a medic.
