That thread to refer to why exactly I am posting here about a different game.

But with all the hard work, it's finally done.
The Resistance teaser trailer is here.

So without any further ado....

I hope you enjoy it...I'll be waiting for some constructive critisizm :bounce:

Interesting.

So do you still want some voice talent?

About the trailer - the 2 guys bumping their heads on each other are hilarious.....

And then Love????

getting to the point - other than the final shacking FX, which felt unnatural... the 2nd half of the trailer is epic. The 1st half.....looks like a different trailer. Maybe you could try spliting them up ?

was it made with a game engine or a 3d program?

I think in another thread he mentions the game engine used. And that they plan on using HL2 for special effects.

it's the OP. Flashpoint engine (if I got it right)

Indeed it is the OP Flashpoint engine.

The reason why the two videos seem different, is because I'm trying to target as many audiences as possible. it's hard to balance everything.
The Flashpoint community notices things like formations of the planes, and helicopters. The Star Wars Galaxies community, does not.
Half-Life community expects some pretty unreal scenes. SO basically I'm trying to balance everything into one.

And yes, I am STILL in DESPERATE needs of voice actors.

Well, I'll search for some free good voice-recording software that than split the sound from img (since I'm using a webcam).

I'll contact you if anything comes up.

Thanks, that might be pretty helpful :)

I'm going in detail here, so you understand the main story. However within the main story, is many other small little stories having to do with the characters within it. it's hard to explain but I'll break it all down for you.

The story takes place in year 2007. The reason for this, is because I personally dislike war movies that never actually happened. However if it takes place in the future, I then believe anything is possible, and the movie as excuseable. So, the movie takes place 3 years from now.

As we all know, present time, Russia is having a conflict with Chechnya. And we all also know that, this war is not easy for the Russians, and they are definately struggling because Chechnya declared independance.

The main General, in charge of the entire war was killed, and a man named Dimitri Kozlova took his place. The Russian casualties are growing at alarming rates, however the Russian President Vladimir Putin does not allow Kozlova to pull his troops out. Being loyal to his country, he stays, but then is persuaded by his high in command friend to pull the troops out of Chechnya, without permission. "I think you are forgetting who's army this is, and who commands it."
This convinces Kozlova to pull his troops out of Chechnya, but the troops are of course very resistant to his decision, his decision is to bring back the Communist Empire, the Soviets. He manages to persuade them "If you stay, you die an honorable soldier. If you leave with us, you live an honorable soldier."

The troops join him. He now has a massive army he is in complete control of. Dont believe possible? Read your history books people, it's happened many times, and that's why I love history. It's not knowledge, it's proof, that something could happen again :)

He plans to setup Military Citadels in numerous locations in the world. His number one location is the Island South of China, HAINAN ISLAND. A perfectly beautiful photo can be found HERE

The island is massive, I know. But the Island wont be technically ingame, so there is no need to worry about actually building the Island :)

This Island is where most the movie will take place.

The reason for this, is because I absolutely love Japanese and Chinese culture, and love their originality from the rest of the world. Now, the Island wont be filled with Japanese and Chinese people. They hear Kozlova's plans, and frankly get the hell out off the island in fear. Some decide to stay, as they believe it's all not true, that Kozlova's forces could be violently invading their Island. Hence, Resistance.

The U.S. military sends in a Special Forces team of 12 units for investigation after reports that Kozlova HAS arrived with military force onto the Island. They check to see if anything seems wierd, look for any Military presence. They find nothing. Kozlova wants to remain hidden, and icolated from other parts of the world, and he knows if the Special Forces team reports back to the U.S, the U.S. will send a massive army to "tear down the red wall". Kozlova remains hidden. None of the civilians will speak, in fear of being killed and assasinated afterwards. The Soviets were a violent group, and I definately plan on keeping this fact true to the movie.

The Special Forces find nothing. But one soldier, named Axel who is the main character of the movie finds something very fishy. He is a military expert, and he knows when something is wrong, even by looking into the eyes of the civilians. His Commander orders him to get back in their chopper, and leave the Island, but Axel know's something is wrong and refuses. Commander gets pissed, lets him stay, and orders 2 other troops from the group to stay with Axel.

U.S. chopper leaves. Axel and 2 other troops are left on the Island. With thousands of Soviet troops. Now you get the hint why it's called Resistance...(title could change).

Then the main action story is played out. Perfectly.

It took me 6 months to come up with a believable story.
And this simple thread is 6 months worth.

For more information on the Island, do a google search. It's a beautiful tropical island south of China.

Some fun detailed info:

Visual characters.

YOu may have seen some in the movie. Here they are with a Mini Bio.

Axel:

Abandoned as a child. No home, no job, he had nothing. By the age 17 he was arrested for many reasons, including stealing. When he got out of prison, he got his life in order. He decided to join the U.S. Marines. A few years after, he left the Marines and got a good college education.

While everything may seem great, his feelings still hurt. His reason for leaving the Marines, is a nightmarish accident. A nightmare that seems to stay with him, and he cant get rid of.

He was called upon this Operation tot he Southern Island of China. He refuses to go back into war, now that he is an Ex Marine who was in high command. The seriousness of the mission forces the U.S. Military to retrieve Axel, whether he likes it or not, he's going back out on the field.

Jacob Hearting:

and

Naisure Tucker:

The 2 selected to stay with Axel on the Island. Secondary main characters here.

There is also a female who plays an Important role. So if Cassandra or Avon lady want to give voice acting a wack, feel free to PM me. because Female voice talent is what I'm most afraid of trying to find. (In fear that I never will).

Dimitri Kozlova:
Dimitri%20Kozlova.JPG

The Commander of the Red Army. Smart, Swift, Cunning, and a deadly violent vicious evil S.O.B.

Vadim Nazarov:
Vadim%20Nazarov.JPG

This guy will be my favorite character. He's the badass, everybody loves em, combat expert. He's focused and spent his entire life with combat, both Military and Ancient combat. Like Samurai, Ju-Jitsu stuff, with swords, hand to hand, heavy weapons, vehicles, pistols, rifles, ETC.
I'm going to have ALOT of fun with this character, and you are going to love him.
You can see him in the trailer, he's walking at us with an Evil smile walking towards us. I love this character, not to mention he looks like the badass Russian we would expect to see.

Other characters I don't feel like posting. But these are both the U.S. and Russian characters.
Resistance characters are still under construction.

Vadim Nazarov is voice acted by Marshal Law, the guy from TNT. (still awaiting approval)

Jacob Hearting is voice acted by Tex from USMC squad. He is a great voice actor and lucky that I found him (and had the balls to come forward with his voice talent)

MUSIC:

The only script I am using for this movie is music.
All my ideas, came from music. I think of as many ideas as possible while looking for many different pieces by numerious composers, and I am able to construct a story.
The Trailer, was completely done using music, no writing, no script, nothing. Music is the only script I need.

You will hear numerous songs, some may be familiar.
From "The last Samurai" by Hans Zimmer, and hopefully some custom exclusive music by Edgen http://www.edgen.com/
he's amazing.

Hope you enjoyed this little post (big rather)

any questions feel free to ask.

I copy pasted all this from a diff forum. So if anything sounds funny that's why :)

Hey, dude, thats the Matrix: Reloaded song! (in the menu and the soundtrack) WHOO! Don't mess with the Matrix masta. Did you have to get permission for any of the songs? Just wondering, not accusing.

Anyway, looks cool. What is the second song? Oh wait, maybe its in that huge thing above my head... er... post...

I'm sorry to say that the story not the best.

Still, great seetting

That's not the main story. The main story lies within.

And yes, it is copyrighted music, but I never said in the video "music by me".
Hopefully I can have Edgen or someone write music for me.

or hell, that's just another thing I need to worry about and learn by myself. How to make music... This does'nt get any easier. I'm only 17, I don't understand this "legal" bullshit. I always figured as long as I dont say the music was made by me, I'm all set.

I'm afraid not. While in a perfect world that would be the case. It's not a perfect world. Companies do have to continue to prove they will follow up breach of copyright otherwise people will simply assume its ok to do it and then all hell breaks loose.

Also and apart from the whole legal issue, you risk pissing them off, which wont do you much good if you ever expect to do more than the odd video your friends and family might see.

If I were you, I would contact those who hold the rights to it, explain fully what you would like to do, making everything very clear and simple and easy to read (remember they will be very busy) show that you understand the whole legal issue. And ask for permission to use it.

There's a few reasons for this.

If they agree then

1) You'll feel better in yourself because you went about it in the proper way and know you can use it under the terms set out.

2) In some cases doing the above can often pay off big time, and you might suddenly find them taking more of an interest in what your doing. It's not been unheard of that the author may sometimes lend a hand, or give permission to use other things, so long as you don't push it or take them for a ride.

3) Pro's know other pro's, so even if they might not be able to help or allow you to use it, your mature attitude might impress them into mentioning it to a friend who might be able to help you out.

So the worst they can do is say no, and no harm is done. The best that can happen is you could end up getting some very talented people helping out, if they think its worth their while.

It always pays to ask.

Fernic is absolutely right, check what happened to the SW mod for BF1942.

LucasArts allowed them to make the mod and some say even took apreciation and respect for their work. It's always good to ask....
