Vista Beta 2 should become publically released today

This can go to hell.

I've now tried for FOUR DAYS with various different methods to get the piece of shit to install, it won't.

****ing hunk of shit.
noo, a beta doesn't work, let's all cry and complain, aeeyyeeee !

The second beta?

It STILL doesn't support SATA hard drives, I had to get some damned drivers on a floppy disk, I tried about 10 ways to get it to install, none of which worked, a whole bunch of bugs, fine, but this crap is ridiculous.

Hey Microsoft, instead of sending out rocks to people, trying making your ****ing piece of shit OS work.

oh noes, i have to install drivers for my hardware, the sky is falling, run ! :|

it DOES support sata hard drives, and you are planning microsoft for lack of drivers when they clearly have excellent driver support, but obviously don't/can't support every piece of hardware.

the os works, go away lemming, try contribute something useful.

YEAH, don't plan MS for their lack of drivers!

Microsoft pride, hell yeah! Shove it Shodan! MS > YOU!

Lol.

Rofl @ pig. I had NO problem installing on my raptor.

Must... defend... bullshit

Well I'm glad it worked for you, but when I was looking for a solution to my problem, loads of people had this, so stop trying to make out that I'm the only person on the planet who can't install this/get it to work/thinks its shit.

It really pisses me off when I say something related to windows that doesn't work and I get all this "lol ur wrong IT DUZ WORK BECAUSE ITS GREAT!"

Shodan, you'll need drivers for your sata controller, which you would get from the motherboard manufacturer, unless you use an add in card. If they don't have a driver, you're probably out of luck, but it's not MS's fault. What kind of MB do you have?

Oh, I got the drivers, I had to use them for XP, I was annoyed because I still had to use them for the "new" operating system, support should be included for it by now, I have the Gigabyte GA-K8N series board.

Destrukt, what is it exactly you're arguing about?

Why do people have to defend windows when someone says it doesn't work/has problems?

if you can't figure it out, meh.

i'm not defending it's problems, i know a couple of people who have had problems with the beta, i'm not suprised, but it's different when you 'blame' ms for hardware/driver problems.

it's also different when you say something like:

yeah, that was just a tad bit uncalled for since you're having some hardware/driver related problems on a beta, and a beta where it's known that hardware support isn't a focus [yet].

how do you install the driver if you want to install win vista x64

Yeah, I see what you mean, I can't explain how annoyed I was when I had to download the ISO twice, both times the install didn't work for various reasons.

Not sure if you meant the link I gave, but it has 2 links, one for 32 and 64.

So did you try those nvidia drivers?

No, I gave up, reinstalled XP and Mandriva with the old drivers I had, I appreciate it anyway though. :)

To install 64-bit Vista, I had to burn the ISO to a DVD and then boot off the DVD, and it took it from there. It's running pretty smoothly, except I can't get WoW to run in widescreen.

sigh no one is helping me with the nforce 4 SATA problem im not an idiot i know how install an iso, but everytime it gets to the 2006 microsoft loading screen it freezes there. ive heard people say you needed the 64bit drivers for it to work but how can you install it if you need it for the 64bit vista and you have 32bit xp

if you don't have 64bit drivers, you're screwed; also, with the 64bit version of vista all drivers have to be digitally signed.

for testing, just go with 32bit [for now].

You don't install the drivers to XP then install Vista. While the Vista installer is starting up (actually, I'm not sure when) but you have to keep pressing F6 in order for you to load the SATA drivers from a floppy. Then and only then will the installer recognize your SATA drives and you'll be able to install.
