Because the NS dev team is looking to do a flamethrower, but only if they could make it volumetric, so I'm wondering if Source could do this.

We're not psychic :p
Ask gabe or erik.

any idea if the NS team is gonna make NS2 for HL2?

From what I can judge in the tech demonstration, HL2 has pretty realistic looking fire. I'm sure a flame thrower effect would look equally nice.

I'm very positive that most of the succesful MODs in Half-Life will be remade in Half-Life 2.
That and lots more.

Natural Selection on Source would be amazing!!

It's possible HL2 may already have flamethrowers in-game. That'd save the NS team the trouble of having to make a flame-thrower weapon from scratch.

Yeah, we havent seen all the weapons, a flamethrower could be cool.

I want to use some flamethrowers in my mod. But I was thinking the same thing if it's possible to do real good flamethrower animations and fire-physics explosions..

can't wait till gabe will response

I'm pretty sure it's possible.

I think I read somewhere that they were already working on making volumetric flamethrowers in TF2 even in the old build...I guess TF2 has moved to source, but if it was possible with the old build it's difinitly possible with Source.

I'm sure something could be amde, and we've already seen that stuff and people on fire ingame looks damn cool.

Easy-peasey. Check out the incendiary grenade (or whatever it is) in the buzzsaw/Hydra video. Good realistic flame igniting a poor hapless Combine guard. Not sure if its true spatial flame, but all best guesses say it is, using the new particle system.

a flamethrower would be really sweet, FRY MONSTERS FRY!
