We need more dedicated folders for folding@home

Running the GPU versions of folding gives the most points FYI.
On ATI 3000 and 4000 series OR Nvidia 8000,9000, and GTX 200 series.
I got the SMP client running, but it's running 4 instances as if it's trying to run on a quad core, is there a way to get it to run just 2 instances?

Yes, in task manager there are 4 instances. But there should be only 1 instance of the main program while it launches 4 instances of the work process. It is optimized for quad cores but it is perfectly fine running the SMP version on a dual core machine. FAH SMP stops any CPU load just the same as regular FAH when other programs want CPU power. And you should clear the deadlines as long as your CPU is faster than say 1.6GHz.

I did Folding@home for about a year under my university's group. Then I switched over to ClimatePrediction.net for a while, and also added SETI.

Then my computer screwed up and now I'm using a new hard drive, and I'm not sure if I want to start up again.

Dude I'm not going to hold a gun to your head, however I would say that the chances that Folding home screwed your HD are probably zero to none. It's not writing a mass of data to your HD, just using your CPU and/or GPU to run its calculations. Hard resetting your computer after a system lockup is more likely to have screwed your HD 99% of the time in my experience.

Oh no, I didn't mean Folding screwed it up (wasn't even running that program at the time). Just diddn't bother downloading and installing again.

Quick Bump. The HL2.Net folding teams made tremendous strides over the last few months, and at the time of writing we are presently 613th in the world which is 357 places higher than the last post in this thread. However it's getting that much harder to make ground now so if you've the opportunity and inclination to help us try and break through the magic 500 barrier any effort would be appreciated (whether you've a super rig or not). See the first post to see how you can help us.
