Looking at one of the threads in this section i noticed a post that said something along the lines of "Gordon dropped the shotgun for the RPG. Does this mean that you can only carry a certain amount of weps?"

RE:

We are tinkering with the weapons and inventory.

Would you like this? Would you not? Tell me.

no! not at all, as it maybe more "realistic" it would take away from the original feel of half life 2 and i think that all half life 2 fans would agree with me. this works in other games, but I know my self that it is not something i want to see in any newer versions of half life.

It's not Half-life with only 2 guns at a time. Though the limited ammo is just fine by me.

I'd like it, but changing something that vital in an expansion pack is a bad idea IMO.

If you rebalance all the weapons (so, for instance, the SMG is effective at mid-range) a Haloesque system could work.

I think the limited weapons idea got tried out in the beta stages of HL2 but was dropped in favour of the current as many weapons as you like approach from HL1. If I remember correctly some of the early beta videos show weapons being dropped so others could be picked up. If valve have already tried and rejected this approach it unlikely to reappear again any time soon.

Its fine how it is, though I spect we will see at least two new weapons. Of course "weapons" may be another object for the gravity gun (such as the strider busters)

No, it would make no sense what so ever for Gordon's inventory to suddenly have a limited size progressing from one game to another which occur directly after each other.

well i happened to find this info in a thread i read prefviously in this section. just wanted your opinion so i can tell my co workers at valve how you feel. ;)

Lies. There is no Valve on the internets.

That was part of the old hl2 tech demos when they were thinking about making it so you can only carry two guns.

No, the current inventory is great.

Eh I call it pants, but I don't think they should just change it between expantions.

If it was like Halos weapon system it would be the second worst FPS ever.

Agreed. The only really good thing about that was the quick grenade throwing, other then that, not very fun at all. I remember running back and forth to grab for 5 minutes just to get more ammo.

two weapons at a time? yeah that was awesome

Not

I liked it. YOU try carting around a rocket launcher, an assault rifle, a sub-machine gun, two pistols, a plasma gun, a flame thrower, and a grenade launcher all at once. You will fail. Weight is not a factor -- shear lack of space will own you.

I didn't actually notice that. IMO Halo was just a cool game.

Well, actually, if you just increase the distance and lower the diameter of the firing cone of the enemies...

*realizes his plan involves a complete rebalancing of all weapons and enemies, essentially making HL2 into a totally different game*

*shuts up*

Halo's weapon system was good in Halo. Half-Life 2 is a very different game and the weapon system it has is good for Half-Life 2.

I dunno it would make it fill like a RPG, dont foget gears of war , that was awsome and counter strike.

All the games you talk about are made differently and thus the developers have different ideas of how the game would be made better. If you could carry all your weapons around in Halo they would have to limit the appearance of certain weapons and then Bungie would have to think of who to give what or where to put enemies with a certain weapon at a certain point. What you are arguing over is pointless.

I see no need to change things now. It's worked fine in the past, and it will continue to be okay in the future.

It wouldn't be Half-Life, without a shitload of weapons clinging to your suit.
