Well lookie here

Why do we have to pay the price if some fags in america can't pay their mortgage. My dad's more at risk than ever at losing his job.

This is the result of a flawed system globally. America simply felt it before anyone else.

Well, America's going socialist, so we'll see how that works out.

Mostly just cutting back. Though my parents have lost probably over $100k in investments. I worry how they will be able to retire.

The UK economy is up the shitter because banks have been lending irresponsibly and people have been taking out credit that they can't afford to repay. Our economy is based on debt which has now become unsustainable so we're ****ed. Banks lend each other substantial sums of money so when a bank needs to call in its debt and can't, they can't afford to repay other banks they borrowed from which causes the domino effect where one bank going down causes the whole system to implode. Not much to do with greedy Americans at all, rather our culture of financial recklessness. Lloyds TSB lent my mum 30k when she was on benefits. Stupid of her to apply for it in the first place, equally stupid of the bank to give her the credit.

The good thing about this whole mess? Predatory loan companies like Welcome Finance are ****ed. Good riddance.

Personally speaking, no, I haven't been affected, I'm better off than ever. My company doesn't really seem to be impacted by the situation at all and we're expanding very rapidly. That being said, I would be making somewhat more money than I am if the situation were improved. It helps that we sell things that save people money.

Although, we are increasingly having problems getting finance cleared for our customers and I'm a little concerned about what will happen if half our client base suddenly can't afford to pay their bills.

I was laid off right before Thanksgiving. I'm looking for a welding job but nobody is calling even after 21 places. :( Most of my college graduate friends have gone to Texas though. I'm either visiting Texas or Washington this Spring but it's looking like Texas. My family used to be doing great because we were easily paying off my tuition, car insurance, etc. Now since I was laid off and on un-employment, we are cutting back. *I hear Texas is like a miracle place for welders too.

Its also in the South though. So keep that in mind.

Pffff. Been unemployed since November. Signing on this afternoon. D:

Did you get laid off because of the economic boohoo, or did you get FIRED?

Either way I'll probably be signing on at some point.

Or 'avin sum babiez, m8. Gimme sum money govermint

I got credit crunched in the face and was paid off and haven't been able to secure any job since then.

Which sucks.
