Alphy, i think he is reffering 2 Adrian Shepard the guy you play as in Opposing forces. That happens to be my name 2, minus the Shepard.

At the end of Opposing Force, after Adrian has defeated the big alien monster and forced it back through its portal, he is teleported by the G Man (who proceeds to nuke black mesa). G Man sees something of himself in the soldier so cannot bring himself to kill Adrian, but cannot release him as Adrian would want to tell his story to the world. So the G Man drops Adrian of in a place unknown where he cannot do any harm but no harm will come to him. Effectively freezing him in time. In a weird dimension - who knows?

The G-Man says to Shepard "I admit, I have a fascination with those, who adopt and survive against all odds. They rather remind me of myself, if for no other reason, I have argued to preserve you for a time." At the end the G-Man goes through a portal leaving Shepard in space.

ohhh i see what you mean now, yeah possibly, the sort of guy who'd be a bit underhand in his early days slowly getting to the top or atleast part way there now, enough to get himself in a position where he could make major choices that ultimately end with him reaping the benefits, like any good business man once you've forgotton the crap they teach in business courses hehe

Speaking of the G-Man, there is another part of the I should of added. G-Man also says "My employers are not quite so trusting and rather than continually subjective to the irresistible human temptation of telling all, we have decided to convey you somewhere you can do no possible harm." It kind of makes you wonder. Why would he say human? Could it be because he is an alien or is it just to throw us off.

Its more just how the heads of large corporations "see" the rest of the human race

though who knows, maybe they've been in cahoots with some alien race for some time

theres too much unknown about the G-man still and HL2 can go so many different ways.. its mind boggling.

well we are impressed with what we have seen about HL2, but now think of the expansion that is almost a gauranteed seller? i can't wait

the ever popular suggestion of Gordon and Adrian fighting together seems good but a little too optimistic as well

Adrian and Gordon just seem like two characters on opposite sides of the spectrum to me.

as for the G-man, he seems like a happy-go-lucky chap who enjoys walks on the beach (+ umbrella) and chortling with his chums at sunday's tea get togethers, however when he dons his Blue-suit-of-G-manlyness he leaves his boyish charms and razor sharp witt at home with the wife.

The G-man is definately my favorite character in the HL series, I cant wait to see how his story unfolds in HL2 (and beyond)

I still think G-Man is Gordon from the future. HL2 will definately involve time travel and what cooler ending could you have than....the beginning HL1!!!! (Gordon goes back in time as G-Man, and so it all begins again...)

I have to say that the same thoughts came up in my twisted and bizarre mind but they vanished after I meditated about it for a few hours. There can't be such a big age-difference between the G-man and Gordon seeing as how they look.

Instead I came to the conclusion that the G-man is actually Gordon's future son who has travelled back in time to aid Gordon in the BMRF incident. Of course, time travel has its side-effects. Notice the "s" sounds in his talk and how he has barely gotten any older between HL and HL2 (just had some graphical face-lift updates).

The G-man has also some futuristic high-tech equipment with him from his time. For an example the suit he is always (graphic updates -> looks slightly different in HL2) wearing is in actually nothing more than the newest version of the HEV suit. It is totally made of a flexible aluminium-titanium material. And the suitcase he has contains the newest warpgate generator. This is the future version of the one found in the Lambda core. This helps the G-man moving from place to place in notime (you know what I mean).

As what comes to Shepherd, he was put in a stasis cell by the G-man where "he could do no harm and no harm could be done to him". Then somewhere between HL and HL2 some alien guys found his stasis cell and came up with the crazy idea to clone him. The clones were connected to each other with a psylink and because of this "connection" and their similar characterisitcs they became to be known as the "Combine".

So in HL2 Gordon might be on a crusade to rescue Shepherd from these aliens and wipe out all of Shepherd's clones before they take over the entire world.

Or maybe I'm just being a bit too imaginative and ahead of things. I don't know. I honestly don't know.

I think that Gordon will end up killing his future self (G-Man) and then after he does it will realize it and then either be forced or choose to live as G-Man. Then when he's older will go back in time....mauahahahaha. But who knows....:cheese:

Whoa. As a self-proclaimed X-Files fanatic I cannot stand comparing Gordon and G-Man to Mulder and CSM (Cigarette Smoking Man). In the latter case, they were on opposite sides throughout the series. CSM was always one step ahead of Mulder, and vehemently against the X-Files as a program. Gordon and the G-Man are working together at then end, something Mulder and CSM would never do, even if the G-Man has hidden agenda. They still share common goals. A more fitting comparison could be Mulder and Deep Throat from season 1. Deep Throat provided Mulder with 'assistance' though ultimately it was revealed he was part of the Conspiracy too. All the same, they weren't 'sworn' enemies as Mulder and CSM were.

Shephard could make a comeback yes, but probably only if someone is willing to do the mod. All too easily he could become a thorn in the side for Gordon. He may still want Gordon dead for all we know. Only have so much of his psyche.
