What fps is acceptable to you

just wondering what peoples views are. Do you like to crank settings for eye candy even if your system suffers a bit at times?

What do people think is a healthy, solid fps

For some reason i like 70

well i used to only get 30...then i updated some driver crap and now i get like 50...and i needed 50! anything less feels like a delay

125 for me otherwise i get mad, i keed 80 or 90 for me. But I am fine with 60.

you loser some of us arn't that rich as you!!!!!.geforce4 MX 440 owns all your gay video cards grrr!

hehe

im excited bout gettin a 6800.. dunno what framerates and resolution to expect

I'm an eye-candy junkie! I will always sacrifice fps for image quality. As long as I have a solid 35-40fps I'm happy. Below 30fps is not acceptable to me. Some people say they can tell the difference between 40 and 80 fps, but I don't really notice it. What I DO notice is the difference between AA and no AA! Damn I hate jaggies!

25+ FPS is good enough. Luckily I get much more than that with the Source engine though.

I don't care about fps much anymore, care more about my skill than anything else.

Im unhappy anywhere below 90. Not because of lag, but because I just hate to see it go below there.

I like enough fps that it isn't laggy and makes me want to cut my wrists. Whats the command to check your framerate in cs source?

net_graph 3

i just chucked on the settings i want with my 6800.

1280x1024 6xAA 16xAF everything cranked

I dunno if i can go more AA with the new card. This one only gave me the option to go 6x... It runs like an ass on my 9600xt with these settings mind you. If i go to water in aztek we are talkin 15-17 fps. Talkin 20-28 fps in normal surrounding. Nothin is smooth, all choppy slightly when i go to look around and shit

Those settings should work v nice tho with the new card im thinkin tho

It is nice to have as many as your monitor refreshes. My lcd refreshes at 60 so if I was able to lock it at 60 like in cs then the game seems to run as smooth as silk. Anywhere below 30 and it feels like I am lagging and can't keep up with peoples movements as well as I get this tearing look on the screen where walls look like they have steps from top to bottom. I would have to say that 60 and above is perfect for ME.

The command is cl_netgraph 1 or you can put 3 as well

stupid rich kids and idiouts with expensive comps claim they "suffer" when thare FPS drop under 60... uhh hey ********** i played HL1 all the way to Xen on my moms 100mhz at 3fps dont tell me you suffer!!

anything over 20 will do i prefer 30+

60 + for multiplayer
30+ for singleplayer

I have carpal tunnel...i need these sort of framerates just to get in a kill every once in a while. Don't get a job using a computer all day...makes gaming suck.

Ugh, sorry. :(

Hey, Doom 3 ran at about 2 fps on my friends computer unless he sat and let everything load. Of course I am to cheap to buy Doom 3 so I had to watch him. It wasn't bareable.

I get around 30-40 in cs... lower in Call of Duty. I am getting a Radeon, don't care which one, soon so maybe it will go up a few, I don't really care though.

its kinda funny seing people say that they must have 60+ FPS in a game when you eye cannot determine rates over 30. Of course, you need 30 FPS at all time, even during slowdowns which is what i think causes people to think thye need 60, since if you have 60 most of the time you should have 30 even during slowdowns.

I was trying to see if my video card could run CS:S in Dx8.1 and was getting like 15 FPS which i can tell you is deffinitely noticeable. On Dx7 at 30-50 FPS though i was OK and probably makes me one of the very few people playing with a 32meg video card.

i get like 40 with 1280x1024 with everything on high and maxed out aa/af

...i wish i could play on 1600 but my system would hit like 25 fps and makes me lag and 1600 is too small :(

That made me laugh pretty hard. But huh.. that's how much fps i'm going to get when i play hl2. ;(

If i get anything above 25 fps, i'll thank god.

25 fps is what i got when i cranked high resolution.. it was down from about 60-100 on my crappier settings, and the difference is insane

I FEEL like im lagging so hard on 25.. how can you say anything over 25 is fine. its ugly as hehe.

72 fps... u cant see higher anyway, if your fps is higher then your refresh rate it becomes virtual fps , what you could be doing , not what you actually have.

When will people stop saying that bullshit that you can't see anywhere above 30 fps..omfg.

You can feel AND see it..anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

Fps for me: 70+

I play with everything on max and get around 20-50fps. I play with everything on minimum and get...20-50fps.

These threads always degenerate into a maximum detectable fps contest.

Admittedly I don't know the exact answer, but I DO know that 30fps is bullshit

The moment my fps go below 60fps I notice it in an instant, but anything above goes unnoticed.

maybe cos u dont get above 60 maybe thats why , try turning your net_graph 2 or 4 on..... and check your ms and choke etc , try and correct it , wahey more fps!

As long as I get eyecandy and my fps stays above 40-50fps, I'm happy. It drops below 30 if there's a huge fight in the water.

:(

People say il waste money goin from 9600xt to 6800... i want eye candy and still good fps tho hehe. i put 1280x1024 with 6xaa and 16xaf and it runs like an ass... choppy as shit

im doin it!

30fps is ok
as soon as it drops below 30fps you can notice a slow down

If I get a constant 35 fps or so I'm happy, because I can't tell the differance between a constant 35 fps and a constant 75 fps without an FPS counter.

I prefer around 90-100 but I can deal with 30-40 if its not too bad. I got like 25-30 fps in D3 but is was smooth as silk, it differs for each game.
