I say half-life , or metal gear solid. Kinda hard for me to chose one.

Metal Gear Solid only if it was written by the game writers and computer animated and used the voice actors from the game.

Warcraft, if it was done completley by their amazing cinematics team :D

HALO all the way.

The only game besides HL with a good story

There was rumor going around on some movie sites about Quentin Tarantino doing the Grand Theft Auto movie. That would own so much.

MGS, seems like the only game with a movie type story to me.

I think they would all be crappy.

Damn Hollywood.

I think games should stay games; the exceptions I would make would be for games that created interesting worlds and premises that can be extended upon-- maybe Thief or American Magee's Alice... anyways the majority of the listed games have great premises for video games but if they were made into movies they would have a "been there done that" kind of feeling (do we really need a Warcraft movie when we have the LOTR series?).

Mgs already has a movie feeling to it though, therefore I think it would be one of the easiest to make a movie for. Unless a idiot did it, and messed it up. I bet it would be just as popular, if not more popular then the RE movies. At any rate I think it would be 20x better/original then a doom movie.

Metal Gear Solid would make a great movie. The game has great cinematic qualities.

As long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct...

I'd like to see MGS and Splinter Cell as movies. Forget starcraft as a movie. Make a damn Starcraft 2 already!!!!

I voted for Metroid Prime. I see I'm the only one that thinks so over the other choices.

I would have voted for Shenmue. that would actually make a good movie, the story about his father getting killed.... hell the game is like a movie already.

I was thinking most would pick half-life seeing as this is a hl forum. Looks like overwhelmingly most think mgs would make the best movie.

While MGS is cinematic, that doesn't mean it would make a good movie. It would be overblown, pretentious and needlessly complicated, especially if Hideo wrote it like someone suggested. Maybe if it was an anmie series, that would make more sense to me. There are plenty more "grounded" games that would make a better movie, MGS is just too damn wierd.

i'd prefer to see half life or metal gear solid, but for the best movie, i deem:

Splinter Cell.

just think about it. espionage, terrorist, etc... it would be a very gd movie, at least for a game --> movie conversion

I voted Splinter Cell, but Halo/Half-Life would be cool as well.

And Grand Theft Auto has already been done (at least speaking of Vice City, and San Andreas would be terrible)

There's too much there, it'd have to be like a 10 hour movie, it just works better as a game, in fact, i'd say it beats most movies out there....period

MGS hands down. The cutscenes are already very cinematic. Awesome story. Good movie with the right actors I'd think.

MGS, even if i did vote for Half life. :rolling: I just kinda voted without thinking then remembered playing MGS for the first time lol

MGS would end up like a many other anime to film movies. I'd be a complete crock :)

Max Payne is already a spoof of a poor detective novel - and would most probably be a stinker of a movie.

In short - none of the ideas in these video games are original enough to make a decent movie.

GTA already has a movie - it's called the Fast and the Furious :/

Didnt you say the same thing about RE? Yet its a huge success now. 2 blockbuster hits, and a third on the way.

Fallout 2.
Big guns, big monsters, power armour, gory deaths, ultra violence, expletives galore, Sex, post nuclear holocaust setting.

Kind of mad max --meets-- resident evil.

Not because of a good story tho (and the movies aren't particularly good either)

Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid, and Starcraft would KICK ASS. Raynor and Kerrigan... excellent.

GTA might be good too if did right. If that Quentin Tarantino thing had been true, that would have been awesome.

Metal Gear Solid hands down. I would re-write some of the script though to make it less uh... anime-ish.

Edit: and how the hell can they make a Half-Life movie? I mean the main character does not even talk! What are they gonna do? Film the whole thing in First-Person View? That would suck to regular 'ol movie goers. Might be cool for FPS nuts though.

That would actually give it a good sense of realism, like some kind of Blair Witch Project effect.

I've got my money on MGS3 since it's so story orientated. But HL2 has HUGE prospects that I have just seen. Look;

The HL2 movie could be centred about realism and surrealism (sp?). You could spend the whole movie in Gordons perspective, finding out things, fighting with people (allows the audience to make their own decisions at points of the film, so if plots are being made, the audience must calculate that). Then you come along to all those mysterious G-Man time-stopping bits. Then you wake up in a hospital bed (starts with eyes looking up at the hospital ceiling) and its all just been some kind of dream which happened in another universe, while you were in a Coma! The whole thing would be really explicit and intimate since the audience feels like they were that Gordon/and or participated somewhat through the whole film.

Wow.

*me runs off to the local patent/copyright authority, or whatever is nessecary to secure my idea*

Games - Movies - Games - Movies :p

I think thats where it should stop altogether.

half life trilogy!!!

as long as they had gabe as the producer..

who would play gordon and alyx.. etc tho :S.
