What happened to team fortress 2?

There's files actually in the Steam folder that are alledegly part of it. Apparently there's pilotable striders and such like.

Pffft...fortress forever is all the TF you'll need.

As many of you remember, Team Fortress 2, Glenn Miller and Duke Nukem Forever went in search of the lost city of atlantis. Well, I saw Glenn a few days ago, and he said that he had gone cold on the idea after all these years away, and given up the search. He left DNF and TF2 off the cost of Greece, following up on a lead that Elvis had been investigating upon his mysterious loss at sea in 1998. Glenn reckons that - as he hasn't heard from either of them - the lead was a dead end and they've moved on, possibly to Gibraltar, where they're going to question the locals who acted a bit mysterious when they passed through and mentioned their quest.

He mentioned that Team Fortress 2 had developed a good tan, and had been a real player in some of the european cities they visited. Apparently he shacked up with Starcraft: Ghost, but ran away when she demanded commitment. Glenn couldn't stop laughing when I told him that Blizzard had put her on hold. He reckons she's taking extended maternity leave. That could be especially bad you know; if Team Fortress 2 were to come back, he'd be shafted with maintenence for that child. He's a cowardly one, scared of commitment.

We may never see him again...

It's all true.
They even included interplanetary space travel and the ability to harness scalar wave weapons - it's real next gen gaming
If you look closely at the old files you'll see that they have it set for release in May - next month is May

Nice. But I doubt it will come out in May.

Actually, it might come out with Episode 1. It's a possibility. Not a very good one, but fair enough.

I say forget TF2 and put 100% focus on HL2 expansions.

I Hope!

The sarcasm is literally DRIPPING from this thread!

/me collects sarcasm in a cup for use in the politics forum

TFC 2 would be sweet but then again anything from Valve is INSANE!

About Quake4 beat it on hard in 16 hours in one sitting. AND WHAT! 1st time around keep in mind.

Might I bring up again the fact that Fortress Forever is coming along nicely from the looks of it? Makes me forget all about any Team Fortress game that Valve may or may not be working on. Hopefully they deliver on all of the promises about making a game that's true to the TFC community's wishes.

lol @ remembering what the latest (4 years old) Team Fortress 2 screenshots looked like...

Bull Goose, FF is a recreation of TFC, TF2 is basically a whole new game. If you see the oringal video's they were planning something quite different than TFC. I completely believe TFC and TF2 will be completely different.

Didn't some guy that visted valve before HL2 was released get to see TF2 but since he was under an NDA.....

That's a pretty stupid thing to do, that's like making CS: S some kind of weird futuristic game or something. Why would they do that?

I dunno.... it's this crazy thing I've heard about, called 'innovation'. Go figure.

that's not innovation, that's taking a game people love and ruining it. why even bother calling it TF2 if its a totally different type of game?

In my humble opinion, Valve probably got TF2 about 90% complete, then they saw a game called Battlefield 2 was released. They realised that BF2 had all of the exciting features that were promised in TF2, so they started again on TF2, and it's now somewhere between 40% and 50% of completion.

Are Team Fortress 2 and Fortress Forever two entirely different games?

...Yes, seeing as how Fortress Forever is going off TFC playing, and TF2 will be different+done by VALVe themselves.

No thats not true. TFC 2 is the not same thing as TFC Source. Im sure if CS was called CS 2 it would be a completely different game also.

If ever
I think they have missed the boat to a large extent on a team based online shooter comparable to BF2

Yeah well difference between you and a big known gaming company is, that it will most likely sell no matter if BF2 is on the market.

woah where'd the aggro come from??? :O

Just keep in mind the TF2 project was started long before anyone thought of making a Battlefield 1942.

Newell: I’m not going to say anything about Team Fortress 2.

GI: Awww…that hurts me. (laughs)

Newell: It hurts me too. (laughs)

GI: Well can I at least ask if you would ever do a Source enabled Team Fortress Classic?

Newell: (pause) I’m not going to say anything about Team Fortress right now. I love that game. Everybody at Valve loves that game.

GI: I know those maps better than I could drive around Minneapolis [ed: Where GI is located]. (laughs)

Newell: At some time we should do an article of all the weird things that have happened in Team Fortress development land. There are completely unknown chapters of that history that have not seen the light of day.
Interesting. Can hardly wait for whenever they reveal what all the fuss was about!

Umm, there's NO information about TF2.

From what do you base your conclusion?

what everyones been saying in this thread about how tf2 was supposed to be full of vehicles etc. try reading the other pages sometime.

You're judging the game with information that probably is utter bull shit, off a couple of people who don't even live in the same state that it's being developed? TF2 is going to melt your face. Try forming your own opinion.

im forming my opinion from the information available. I love TFC and don't really want to see it turned innto some second rate battlefield. also i don't see how living in the same state as valve would earn them special knowledge or priveleges.

What information? There is no information. You're just scared of sequels.

The "information" we have to go on is a handful of really old pictures, a page of really old information, and a ton* of rumors.
