That's craaaaaazy talk!

it's all a conspiracy to take over the world and make big bucks...

hmmm i don't know man i mean if they are not releasing a finished game because a card isn't ready, then this delay is all to do with a marketing plan

Tell me about it, I should be hung at dawn for thinking such outlandish thoughts.

This is the only explanation I have heard that makes any sense.

The only explanation that makes sense is the fact that the game ISN'T DONE.

I'm guessing that HL2 is feature complete, but they're polishing it until you can see your face in it (at least that what I hope they're doing).

It'll all be worth it when it arrives!

We just dont know.. Wait... Did Lombardi say that it wasnt done on the Valve only thread?

If the game wasn't ready I think they would have admitted to it. Rather than just saying they where delaying the release.

seriously, the game just isnt done yet!!!!!

They are not going to admit they are delaying the games release because of a multi-million dollar deal now are they???

please please just listen to this guy and be quiet...your "omg it's a conspiracy" and/or "it's microsoft/ati/my mom's fault!" just don't matter. the game will come out when it comes out...you'll buy it and you'll play it...

when you're playing it you won't care why it was delayed.

They are SOOOOO delaying the release because Vivendi want a christmas release to sell a billion copies and make a quick buck!

I doubt it's because of the ATI card.
The game probably is finished, but they might iron out a few bugs while they are waiting for christmas.

All I want is the whole truth. If they insist on keeping people in the dark, then they should expect people to 'speculate'.

Correction its definitely finished. the question is to whether they're still playtesting or whether its a marketing decision. personally i believe it to be the latter from the information i know.

does any game developer ever give full disclosure of WHY a game is delayed? NEVAR!! why do you expect valve to?

P.S. i've just emailed doug lombardi and asked him to clear it up if he can.

I'm willing to bet it will be out in mid-November--certainly before Thanksgiving anyway. That's about 6 weeks. 6 measley little weeks.

Maskirovka it's hard to take you seriously with your avatar. So I usually just skip your post and read the next.

A 'developement cycle' can always be increased to last as long as the developer wants.

omg it's so small you can't even see the terribleness until you go to the page in my sig. if you've done that, then i understand.

i don't understand...are people going to buy two copies just because they release it at a different time? their sales will be the same no matter when they release it

So true, heh.

I dont think Joe Farmer on the XMas-Present-Shopping Tour will think "Hey thats a nice looking game, im gonna buy it for my little daughter =)", and buy HL2 just because its Christmas time.

The majority of cash will come from the fans and they will buy it at any other time of the year as well.
