What is the effect?????

The one for PS2 sucks horrably. IT WILL WORK ON YOUR COMPUTER, plus it is easy to find on the computer. Seriously, you have to keep reseting the console to make it work. Graphics will ALWAYS be best on the PC.

Half-Life
Half-Life Counter Strike
Half-Life Blue Shift
Half-Life Opposing Forces
Codename Gordon

ALL of them will work on your computer. Your computer is not a piece of crap. The only thing wrong with it is its weak GFX Card

So the one on the PS2 is the same story, but just worse graphics? Ok, I'll get it on the computer. Whats the other Half-Lifes, like Counter Strike, and Blue Shift? Do I need to play those to also get the full story, or can I just go from part 1 to part 2? Also, how old is part 1?

Half life came out in 1999 all the otherones (BS,OF) are expansion packs.

1999? Wow, sounds pretty old. How are the graphics for it? And I called the GameStop near me and they said they sold this premium pack that game with like Half-Life and all the others. Is thta all in one CD or in a combination of 5 CDs, because she said there 5 games or something like that.

Hey, when you get the one for PC, go into Options/Settings go to video, then click on the menus until you get one that says "SOFTWARE" "OPENGL" "DIRECT3D"

Click Direct3D, and scroll the resolution down to 1024x780 and click OK.

The Premium Pack is the best way to go. It includes all the expansions
except for codename gordon (which is a gay flash game anyway)

Do you play games online?

Here it is. So, it includes everything? Nice, I guess by the time I'm done I'll have a new computer and everything ready for part 2. SO, I'm guessing this is all in one disk? And the way its put, I should play it in order right, or would I need to be told which order is what? Thanks.

Just Play HL1 first. It doesn't really matter what comes next.

What is your Operating system (Example Windows 98)

I have Windows XP. BTW, how are the graphics for HL1? Are they good for a 6 year old game? Like, compared to game systems, what can they compete with when it comes to graphics?

Hl1: Graphics: Awful, but not that awful. C

Gameplay: A+

btw, HL1 has a few compatibility problems with XP. But it shouldn't affect you much.

That's the beauty about Half-Life : It never gets old :p

Btw (By The Way), your computer meets the minimum requirements for Half-Life, so as others said, it should run fine.

Do I need to play those to also get the full story, or can I just go from part 1 to part 2?
You should play all of them, they are all of equal quality (Although some dont like Opposing Force). The stories also connect to each other in some points, only from a different point of view.
POV (Point Of View) per game/expansion :
Half-Life : Gordon Freeman
Half-Life : Opposing Force : Adrian Shephard
Half-Life : Blue Shift : Barney Calhoun

And if you're done with that, search for 'HL mods' on google, and you'll be playing those until HL3 has been released :p

EDIT :
Gameplay: A+
Only A+? More like A+ X Infinite :p

Ok, I'll start with those. How long would it take me to beat the first one? Like, a average person?

It took me 12 hours to go through it on my first time through.

I'm still quite partial to all the first HL games - the graphics pale in comparison to todays games, but I wouldn't call them bad by any stretch. I wouldn't touch the PS2 version mostly because playing a FPS with a console controller is, well, like trying to eat rice with a butter knife. You can do it, but there are other utensils that work much better. I spent a couple of weeks playing HL1 - a couple of hours a night. Dang! When I first played that game, it seemed like forever and I was still wanting more when I was done.

in fact the playstation2 version of HL is not "horrible"; it contains Decay, a co-op expansion that kicks ass and is only available in it. but still get the pc version.

Yes it is "horrable" because there was a defect in about 50,000 disks that required you to keep reseting the console until it loaded. When I put in a BRAND new copy of it it made grinding noises like something was about to explode. The resolution is a HORRIBLE 640x860 and you cannot read anything that good unless its your health and weapon ammunition.

Decay, also, was not that good, and I able to go through it in about 1 hour.

I didn't know a PS2 went further up than 640x480 which must be what you meant. in fact i'm sure they stop at 5x3 something. I had never heard of defect copies and I used to rent a fully-scratched one that worked perfectly. Decay DOES kick ass, is harder than half-life, and shows you a lot of cool places in black mesa that make the whole place feel much more tangible.

That's a damned fine analogy :D

HL1 + HDR Pack = Awesome. (for 2001)

Nasty G-Man model though. Totally lost the character there (it looks nothing like HL1 original G-Man, which does at least have the same sort of mood as the HL2 G-Man)

And now Black Mesa : Source :D

Graphics : A++
Sound : A++ (probably)
Gameplay : A++
Multiplayer : A++

=Win!
