Well, I've been here a little over a year, and what have I gained, besides a name change request?
 
The ability to annoy anybody on the planet within ten seconds or less. Surley that's worth something.

What do you mean, what is there to gain? Are you here because you're trying to accumulate something? If so, you're here for the wrong reason. Post count means nothing, registration date means nothing.

What matters is if a person is mature and contributes to discussions or otherwise adds an element of flavor to the forum community.

What can be gained is simply a community to chat and share interests with.

That's it. That is all.

I've gained the satisfaction of being smarter than many people here. :p
 
I don't know what the hell I've gained during the 3,5 years I've been here.
 
If you get into that metaphysical crap you'll just end up realizing that nothing you do matters.

but anyway... I've gained knowledge, new perspectives, etc...

And I don't consider entertainment a waste of time, unless you're using it as such to avoid doing something else.

What i gain from this place is just being able to open my mind and speek freely about anything i want and discuss anything i want with anyone. Help others and seek help/advice. Being able to learn from others and teach others. To grow my personality and mind without leaving my house. To see things from different viewpoints from people with other cultures. People who say that when you surf on the net all day that u have no life really dont know what they are talking about. Forums and Vorums (should i call it that?) are 2 of the most intellectual and intelligent discussion technologies of our time. No time before has people all around the world been able to talk about life or simple things such as if youd hit it, with each other! Sharing a smile and a laugh and gaining one from this place is great. Image Dump is what makes my day.
 
I love this forum. Somewhere I can actually be myself, and say what I actually think, without having to say the first thing that comes into my head and screwing up, which is what generally happens when talking to real people. Also good for a laugh, of course.

Well, I don't feel the need to post in every thread, and I don't always have time to be on the web everyday.
