yes, and half-life 2 is now an RTS, Valve felt that there were not enough strategy games out.

Agreed. Much as I love the footage that has been released from Valve, too much more new stuff would quite frankly ruin the fun of playing. There was a lot of stuff in the E3 footage that would of been awesome to experience first hand, that will loose it's lustre when played.
