what resolution will you be playing at.

I'm probably going to play at 1024x768. That's fine for me.

well i am goin to get the 9800XT when it comes out with HL2,

so the highest i can get really cause i have a P4 3.2GHz as well

1024x768 with whatever settings I need to get a good, playable framerate.

System specs:

1.33GHz Athlon T-Bird
GeForce 4 Ti4200
512MB PC166 RAM

Yeah, my system is getting a little long in tooth. Here's hoping that Source's much vaunted scalability is in fact a reality.

1024 ;or maybe, for the first time: 1280 if my 9800 Pro runs everything else on max.

What is better: 2X AA 1024 or 1280 No AA??

Specs

I'll be trying 1024 x 768 on my trusty Geforce 4 Ti4200. So long as the gameplay is as good as I hope it to be, I'm not too bothered about my fps yet - first time I played Half Life I was on 4fps and software mode, and it was as good then as it is now on OpenGL and 85fps.

Although I expect multiplayer will demand a higher fps to be any good at it :bounce:

Ill be playing 1024x768 with 4xFSAA on my Radeon 9800 Pro.

Well I always aim at 1600*1200 with everything on but I always have to slack at AA so that will be 2x or 0x I will probably run every DX 8.1 feature and this is my resolution list:

1600x1200 = sweet! The best! 1337!
1280x1024 = Exellent this is what i usually run
1280x960 = Ofcourse as good but my 19" CRT cant extend the sides enough so I have black bars on the sides :flame:
1024x768 = OK but jaggy
800x600 = crap usually
640x480 = always crap havent run it in ages luckily =P

I *only* have a TI4600 2533 MHz P4 and 1024 MB RAM 6 NS Samsung.

You will NOT be able to get good speeds at anything above 1024x768 on that card, man. Let alone with AA on.

Im pretty sure I will if I dont use all the DX8.1 Features its raw power are still ok fast :) but who knows? we still havent seen the real game.

1024 x 768 @ med-detail and if my comp (amd 2000+ gf4 4200 ti 128 mb 512 mb ram) cant handle it then i'll switch it on 800 x 600

The obvious answer is "the highest possible resolution", but it will probably be at 1024x768 like you. At first, all the bells and whistles will be turned on, and I'll just strip away stuff until I get decent frame rates.

Crumbles.

who here is REALLY excited about HL2?!?

nman can't wait.

1024x768 4x FSAA / 8x AF
Everything on Max

And if my comp can't handle it.
1280x1024 no aa no af
Everything Maxed

Oh and my specs are
PIV 3ghz
512mb pc 3200
Ati 9800 pro 128mb :flame:

800 by 600 low/med detail..

thats all it will handle

I wonder how my radeon 9000pro128mb will do at 1024x768 (I cant stand anything lower than that)

1024 x 768
4xAA (maybe)
8xAniso(maybe)

3.0 Ghz 800 FSB
1024 RAM DDR400 PC3200
9800 Pro 128
80 Gig HD 7200 RPM 8 Mb buffer size

uhhhh..... anyone know for the E3 video's wut the resolution or amount of details, AF or Dx8.1??? or dx9 with tings switched off?

Im hoping for:
1024x or 800x, medium-low details, No AF, No AA(maybe 2x), with 30fps.... im happy with the graphics in the e3 videos except maybe 2x AA would be nice...

Does anyone have a comparison between 2x and 4x AA???

The Bink videos looked like DX 8.1 1024x768 with no AA or AF to me, but I could be wrong.

1024x768 with the DX8.1 path I hope at high or max (I have a ti4200 that performs like the Ti4600, so according to the benchmarks, it will do fine)

I have no idea what resolution, but the one I can have with full details and still have decent FPs..

If the game runs on my machine like I think it will (who knows), then it will be as follows:

800x600 with medium detail, no AA/AF

or

1024x768 with lower detail, no AA/AF

for a P4 1.3, 512MB RDRAM, GF3 Ti200...bleh. :(

Gabe said that a AMD Athlon 1700+ should run it fine so don't worry Compman2000!

I think it should be said that this game will look better the next time you upgrade which is another reason to play it through again.

I hope so... do you what the rated clock speed of an Athlon 1700+ is?

NM, I did a quick google and found out it was 1.47GHz...I know that Athlons are faster than P4s at the same clock speed so a 1.47 Athlon is probably equivilant to a 1.6-1.8 P4...not too bad. I'm trusting Gabe on this one; when the head of the dev team for Tribes2 said Voodoo cards ran the game great, it actually ran it terribly.

We'll see..

1024x768, High Details, Geforce4TI4200

It will be a slideshow, but a nice one :)

I'm planning on 1024x768 with 0 or 2x AA and 8 or 16x AF and all the goodies turned on...But the AA and AF settings will depend on whether I can tell the difference or not in HL2.

My machine is an XP1800+, 1 gig of pc2700 and a 9700Pro. Although I'm planning on replacing the 1800+ with a 2700 or 2800 soon.

1024x768 here. depending on my frames, i might turn on 2xAA/2xAF.

once you get used to having aa/af on, you take them off and are like "uhhh".

Plus I get CRAZY FPS at no cost of image quality, atleast none that I could ever see. Im sure I will get great FPS with my Geforce 4 card in HL2 in DX9 with my res that low.

Har Har the Geforce FX line barely supports DX9.
