If you make bold claims (and insulting the people who caused the things you claim) which are utterly false and then keep on persisting them, then dumbass is the first word that comes to my mind. But who am I?

There also wasn't a lot of the stuff that was in the e3 2003 videos. Some e3 maps were in less completed shape than they were in the videos.. models from the videos were missing from the build.. THE STOLEN BUILD DID NOT REPRESENT EVERYTHING THAT VALVE HAD DONE.

Obviously the person who stole it had a vendetta against Valve, so of course he would claim that it's all that Valve had. And you're more prepared to believe a thief than Valve?

I'm fed up with hearing people whine and squeal about how "Valve lied", a statement that relies on far too many assumptions. I would guess that at one point they were developing a multiplayer component (surely they needed to be working with a multiplayer component to develop the netcode in the first place), only to scrap it later, most likely after they started reworking the netcode because of the source code leak. Which, by the way, IS important. Anyone who has done any serious programming will know that there are virtually unlimited numbers of different ways to code a complex system like netcode. If cheat creators had the exact same netcode to work with, they would have no problems at all creating any kind of cheat they wanted. It makes perfect sense for Valve to re-write it.

Come on guys.. stop ASSUMING that Valve never had any multiplayer component, ASSUMING that all valve had done was what was in the leak, ASSUMING that Valve were lying about things... In the game industry, plans change ALL the time. Most game developers tell the press about features they are developing, while a game is in production, that never make it into the final game. It happens ALL the time. It's not that they are lying.. they have every intention to put those features in the game. But as development continues, lots and lots of different features and components get changed from their original design, or axed completely, as the developers gain a better idea of what works and what doesn't. That's how game development works. So, something you were looking forward to got axed. I'm sorry you're dissapointed, but that's life. Deal with it. Don't demonstrate your immaturity and lack of perspective by going on a stupid cruisade against Valve. If you honestly think they've lied and don't want to support them, don't buy or play HL2. Otherwise, just enjoy the game that they've put so much time, money and effort into, and be grateful that they've spent so long perfecting it, and making it the best game they could, rather than just releasing a quickly put together pile of crap and raking in cash from it.
