Cause my goal is to lose body fat, and when you do cardio in the morning you are exercising on an empty stomach, which burns the calories in your body fat rather than the calories from food.
It's not to do with empty stomach it's due to lower levels of glycogen in the liver, it dosn't actually do you much good as far as weight loss goes.
When you train with low glycogen/blood sugar your body is forced into a stress response (cortisol, adrenaline) which forces the body to keep the fats, you will certainly burn fat during the exercise but afterwards your body will slow right down and you will not be burning much fat later that day, it's better if you keep your energy levels as continous as possible.
It's best to have a small breakfast of fruit etc, wait an hour, go for your run then have another small breakfast, this sets the metabolism up for fat burning all day
