Hi folks, hope you're having a good Christmas!
One of the presents I received was a ?25 ITunes vouchers, which I think is quite nice. Thing is, I could spend so much on that store, so before it's all spent (I already bought the Greensleeves compilation Ragga Jungle Dubs), I was wondering if you could be so kind to suggest some off-kilter dodgy obscure but amazing music that is out of mainstream exposure... i.e. 'the best band you've never heard'. Doesn't matter if it's old or new, low or high budget. I like all sorts of stuff so don't hold back :)

Wonderfully amazing unique experimental wackyness; Animal Collective - ''Strawberry Jam'' (indie/folk/???, other)

Blisteringly melodic instrumental melodies and harmonies to a bleak backdrop of decay and ruin: Pelican - ''City of Echoes'' (instrumental/post-rock/post-metal)

Topsy-turvy big-band orchestral jazzy breakbeat electronica: Xploding Plastik - ''Treated Timber Resists Rot'' (electronica/other)

Three top albums in my book, the latter being the newest I've heard but the other two being close favourites from the last couple of years. I have no idea if these are in the iTunes store, but get 'em anyway by other means!

I've tried Xploding Plastik before and wasn't so impressed (but that was an album from 2001... they could've ripened some more by now).

I couldn't find any Pelican on itunes.

But... Animal Collective... :D Thank you.

The new Plastix album is much better than their previous releases, but then I also really enjoyed them, too, so...

Can't go wrong with Animal Collective, though. Fireworks is a beast of a tune. Good summer memories with that album.
