What would you put in the HL2 soundtrack?

John Murphy, composer of the 28 Days Later soundtrack, gets my vote.
As does the synth Beethoven of A Clockwork Orange.
The music from the Metroid games (especially in orchestrated versions) would also fit nicely into some sequences.
But whatever Bailey put in is what I'll listen to on the first run through the game.

Oh yeah: Joe Satriani's album Surfing With The Alien fits into every game.

Slipknot, Machine Head, Rob Zombie, Korn! :)

teh rock music!!! YAAAY! guitarr riffs! im a 13 yer old kid mad at teh world!!!

We need real music. professionally composed, brilliant, atmospheric, suitable.

not mtv crap.

I'll go with the game music. And if (big if) I want a change I'll put on all my Sonata Arctica records along with some In Flames, Children of Bodom, Clawfinger and so on. =)

\m/ METAL 4EWA \m/

=)

You got to be kidding, as much as I like korn I don't want that stuff in the HL2 OST :)

Anything but white-arsed plastic techno-metal.. Please, Valve, honour the visuals with something that doesn't make me want to remove my eardrums with a screwdriver.

Sorry - I'm not actually Danish - (I'm not even an Earl - shhh don't tell anyone!)

Bit of a misnomer there, so my apologies.. But I do have sensitive ears..

Led Zeppelin-Going to California (Good all around ass-kickin' music)
Pink Floyd-Speak to Me (Ambience music)
Jimi Hendrix-Voodoo Child (Outro when stuff is blowing up)
Wagner-ride of the valkyries (Any driving or epic part)

One of these days from Pink floyd's meddle album would be pretty cool.

slipknot's lead singer lives less than 3 miles from my house, but i've never listened to their music. local celebs kinda.

How cool would it be to have an intro sequence set to some creepy Boards of Canada music? That would set the mood really well IMO.

The Barney Song tbh

SCARY!

Rob Dougan - Furious Angels + Clubbed to Death - techno vibes right there

Paul Oakenfold - Zoo York

Light electronic music

I myself probably would prefer electronic or Halo-like soundtrack. A good soundtrack enhances the game, doesen't dominate it. However, that Spybreak would be nice to hear in HL2.

A mix between old classical Beethoven and stuff like that...
...slipknot, old 80's rock...

a real mix :)

Speaking of Halo, the soundtrack in the airboat scene was really Halo-ish.

I wouldn't doubt they were inspired by Halo in that part.

hmm, didn't sound halo'like to me
You are joking!
The drums! The violin! The orchestra music was Halo all over!
