It takes a lot of free time to read through every post that any ever makes, then you have to deal with the complaints and the moaning and the whining, then you have to discipline people as well, and it is very difficult if the people you are disciplining are friends of yours.

But no matter how good a job a mod is, there will always be someone who thinks they're too strict or too leniant.

Well exactly. You can't win here as a mod, whatever you do will be the wrong thing according to someone. You just get used to annoying PM's and delete them automatically. You don't get a lot of time for yourself and it basically is a thankless "job" and you become a target aswell.

However it is cool for the first few weeks having lots of power over the forum But like godmode in HL, it gets boring after a while

Naa it can be a lot of fun sometimes, the active mods just do a heck of a lot more than many people realise, and usually get told to **** off for their troubles, which isn't nice really and makes you wonder why you even bother giving up so much time for the community at times.
